You're assuming this is going to be the only expansion and the end of the Warden's story Josh. I agree Morrigan's story and character does need to go on, but I think it should be in an expansion/sequel centered around her and her story rather then being it second banana to something else.

Yes, precisely. They are planing to make two very short expansions, each costing 40$. Instead of making one big expansion for the same price.
I would have agreed with your point completely if this expansion was larger. But as it stands, it's not worth the 40$. And yet, in defiance of logic, I am still tempted to buy it.

Everyone has said it's $30 for the PC, why do I keep seeing $40 price tag being thrown around. And as for the time, again, if the original rumor is true then the main story is 15 hours. I'd assume there are side quests and things of that nature which also add to the time. Maybe another 5-10 hours for quests, encounters, exploration, random chatting, ect. So you end up with a 20-25 hour expansion for $30, this of course is if you play it once. I know for a fact I'm going to do it at least twice, once for the import and once for the new origin.

So for $30, 40-50 hours, not good enough. I wonder about people sometimes.

I do hope it's Alistair -although with the ending on my last playthrough I think I may just go off in a corner and cry for a while...

Thanks for the link! That looks awesome! :)

Alistair is definitely returning, although I don't if he's a party member. (Unless he's dead of course)
I must admit that I'm interested about how the game will respond to your PC being king or queen.

(Watch the trailer on gamespot)

If he is King, he is almost certainly not a party member. [...]

Untrue! If Cailen can go fight the blight, and Alistair can go off to fight the archdemon having been chosen king, the king can do anything he darn well pleases. ;)

Watched the trailer. Alister is king and is pretty clearly sending you off on a mission..."I miss the whole darkspawn killing thing" will be his wistful remark as you head off into The Expansion.

The restart/Orlais origin will be for those who died at the end of DA:O. With one surviving warden as king and unable to reconstitute it the Order dispatches a replacement Commander.

He could just be alive for that trailer. In whatever game you played, it could be Anora giving you orders.

That's what I was thinking too. I want more conspiracy theories though.

I too would be mad if the love interest was gone. Five new companions and ONE (only one, wtf) returning.

From a story standpoint it could be Morrigan, but also, it would seem weird for her to be back because of the whole "never see me again". So I'm hoping that the "one memorable character" returning is the love interest of the warden (except for Morrigan). So either Leliana or Zevran. Take Alistair out as well.

If your love interest was Morrigan or Alistair, or you didn't have a love interest, then the returning character would be Leliana for females (girl-friends' omg!), or Zevran for males (gotta have your best mate around).

That is my reasoning.

"2010 worldwide on the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3 console and PC. Dragon
Age: Origins – Awakening will be available for $39.99 on PC, "
Plus, I play it on the 360.

They didn't say anythign about main story. They just said it will last 15 hours. I hope you are right and that it's only the main story. But they didn't clarify and I remember Bioware saying that the main story line in the original was 40-50 hours, which was an exagerration. But if those 15 hours are indeed only the main story, then Bioware should confirm it asap.

Whatever.  I actually find myself not caring about the cost.  I just hope it's good

It'll break my heart to leave Al behind, but as long as Zev's around, I'm sure I'll be fine.

I looked it up on Gamestop and they had the PC one listed as $29.99 and the PS3/360 listed as $39.99. That could be fault on them though.

I am looking at the price tag for expansion of Dragon Age Orgins, it's 30 bucks. To me, that is more then fine. They could charge me 50 bucks and I still wouldn't complain because let's say you order a Pizza from a store, about 3-4 pizza's cost roughly 30-50 bucks.

Or you go out to the movies, you are paying 6 bucks and only entertained for an hour. Even if this only had 15 new hours added to it. That's a "large expansion" considering the DLC content prices are 5 bucks for an hour of content

You cannot have more content and expect it to be the price of a happy meal, then ask for more hours of them to lower the price. This is the cost that drives them to even create such work. The fact we are all giddy or most were giddy to play the new DLC content before it was pushed back, confirms that we

1.) Like the game
2.) Want more of the game

30 bucks for PC is more then acceptable. They could charge 50 bucks. You are playing to experience the content and the new graphics/voice actors/ and moral choices. You wanted more content and they are giving it to us. Tis 30 bucks not a reasonable offer in exchange for 15-30 hours of game play.

In truth we do know how long game play will be, nor do I think we will be counting the minutes as we play. Because we will be enjoying it too much. Now just to wait for the next expansion.

Edited: PC verizon is usally cheaper then the other platforms. I doubt they are charging the extra money on purpose. If it's 39 bucks for the one. In mass Effect 2, the PC one costs 50 bucks while other platforms charge 60 bucks.

Why, I do not know

"Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening provides exciting new ways for players to customize their heroes and party, including the ability to re-spec their character attributes, allowing even greater customization and replayability. Featuring an increased level cap, new spells, abilities, specializations and items, plus five all-new party members, players can continue their adventures from Dragon Age, or begin with a brand new party."

It doesnt say that the old characters are gone, it says continue or begin with a new party.

It probably has as many options as anything in the first part of the game. It could be Anora there. The could be sending you, he could be proposing to go as well. I think all possible scenarios will be covered. The 'I miss the darkspawn killing' could be in response to 'why would the king want to go?' They aren't going to rule out Alistair going when he's many people's favorite character.

Well I just posted another thread, but at 1:20, you can clearly see Oghren standing with the group of new characters. So, guess it is Oghren then. Or some other dwarf with red hair and the same armor/weapons that Oghren starts with.

Yeah, me neither :P

At least they didn't drop a rock on Alistair like Mask of the Betrayer did to Casavir (yes, I know that was Obsidian).

I just hope they acknowledge the decisions made in the main game. My noble likes being queen.  Sigh.

That does conflict with this trailer? which is more correct? or are both fake? Image IPB

Yeah that is what I am thinking.  It shows Alistair in the trailer, but depending on your game choices, those scenes could be different when you actually play it.

It says on bioware website main page about the expansion

Encounter five all-new party members and an old favorite from Dragon Age: Origins

This is strange. If both the troll/gnome is alive and Allister is alive, isn't that bringing back two old party members?

Things to consider.

1) trailer

If there is a trailier, why doesn't gamestop or Bioware post it on their main site. Why is it on a youtube video of some lone person. Could it be a fake? Perhaps but I heard a line where Allister says 'This darkspawn can talk" However some reports are conflicting..such as..

What if you made yourself King and you extort data. Does Allister still remain King?, What if you sent Allister to be killed in the lands meet. How is him being alive explained. It's just not like Bioware to not explain anything or a strong storyline up to it.

Just things to think about
