Surely that can't be right..
(£19.99 is about the  typical expansion pack in the UK btw)

The "official" story is that the expansion will cost $40. I guess the price of an expansion pack depends on the amount of content it has.

Anyway the official topic to discuss the expansion pack you are refering to can be found here: http://social.biowar.../index/546072/1

Even the Diablo II:LOD addon, that completely altered the entire game so you played it over from the beginning was half the price of the original D II.

$40.00 is a bit over priced. I'd pay $25.00, but not 40 when I paid 50 for the original game.

Well, let's see, if I completed the so told 80 hours long game in 25 hours in my first run, then the expansion should last... 5 hours for me?!

As for price, I don't know... I payed 52 euros for the original game, don't have any money at all now. Will buy the expansion, sure... they could even be so kind to give all the DLCs in it, no?

I agree the 1 EUR = 1 USD exchange rate is completely ridiculous (Edit : I want 1 EUR/USD = 1 HUF :P )
Otherwise the 40 (EUR/USD) only seems high compated to the original games 50 USD/EUR.

As to the bang for the money : DA:O is unbeatable.
It has 6 origins : OK, not competely different content for the whole game, but interesting enough.
So you can get at least 100 hours of gameplay out of it, if you want to see all dialogue options, not to speak about all endings.
And I am not even talking about my personal experience, at 75 hours (edit : WK DLC included), I am probably half-way through my first playthrough.
DA:O will get me about 900 hours of gameplay, if I don't get bored before it.

If you have 5 (!) new companions, it's at least two playthroughs (to go through with 2 different sets) of the expansion, which should be an average 50 hours gameplay.

$40 for an expansion? Jeez, I paid $40 for the entire game (and still don't feel like I got a good deal).

I can't even finish it due to the loading problem that still hasn't been sorted.

40 US is a bit steep for an expansion pack. I'll wait till it drops to 20. Got a bunch of games to finish anyways.

Are you talking about the longer load times as you play? All I have do to fix that is restart the game.

Yea, I just hate constantly jumping in and out of the game.
It seems to be every 30 odd minutes but when actually playing the game it feels a lot faster.

By next Christmas you'll be able to get the game bundled with all the addons for $25.00 anyway.

True, the PC version is usually cheaper. Maybe that isn't too bad after all. Still, I'll try to wait a little bit before pouncing.

$29 is about the same price as the average expansion pack.

$30 on PC sounds about standard. At least I paid as much for Mask of the Betrayer and Storm of Zehir. I feel sorry for console users though. $40 for a 15 hour expansion? Ouch. I can only hope it's as long as Throne of Bhaal was... at least.

Many games if you rush thru them, not exploring, not doing optional quests will of course have a shorter duration that what they promoted for.

So unless you want the game to technically force your character to go thru all the optional stages, and thus making it a linear choiceless game, don't complain the game is too short lived in comparaison to the announced play-time, because you skipped many of the contents.

A roughly complete playthru of Dragon Age with a single character is between 60-75 hours. And even you will not be able to access the minor variations which requires to play with other origins.

Anyone who says DAO has only 15~30 hours of gameplay has only played half the game.

However now about the expansion itself, if it is time-measured like the DLC, then yes It will most probably be shorter than 15 hours Posted Image
