He's a Lt. Commander. Ask anyone on the BSN.

As for Ceberus being evil. Sanctuary was one of the most vile, disturbing and unforgivable things i've ever seen a group of people do.

Shepard is above liutenant Commander, otherwise Kaidan and he would be the same rank in ME1, they aren't Commnder Shepard is the XO, then Pressly

And Sanctuary worked.  it did exactly what it was supposed to, find a way to control the reapers.

::sigh::  What could have been...:(

I agree that looks hotter but wouldn't people have complained about the cleavage?

Not me.

Slight cleavage + appropriate hair + practical space-military tailored clothing > Ashley's appearance in ME3

Ashley's looks didn't improve.

The game engine did.

Yeah, Cerberus shifted from a Lawful Neutral alignment (they did some good things and some evil things, but always followed a method and chain of command) to a Lawful Evil (same rules/chain of command but blantantly immoral actions) or possibly a Chaotic Evil (seemingly unpredictable or spontaneous evil actions without a clear path)

You've gotta be trolling me at this point. Shepard is a Lt. Commander. If you wanna continue arguing, i suggest you google first and/or try asking other people on the BSN.

There are two types of Commanders. Staff Commander and. Lt. Commander, which comes after Staff.

And if you think Sanctuary was justified then i have no words for you.

And Ashley doesn't have her own opinions? She's well known for speaking her mind and not caring what anyone else thinks. That's always been a big part of her character.

True. It's just that her opinions are born from ignorance and racism. She doesn't understand the way the galaxy works, and she is a rather limited character.

Ashley is demonized by immature Mass Effect fans as a racist bible-thumping Jesus freak b**** because it decomplexifies her.

To stereotype her is both easier and more compatible with what some fans think a young woman in a futuristic space-exploration settting "should be". Namely that such a person should be atheist, passive, and completely trust of all aliens. This mindframe makes it very difficult to actually engage in any sort of discussion regarding religion or "racial politics" in a near-future space setting.

Frivolus superstitions such as religion should have die out by ME's time frame.

I love these threads, oh so, so, much.

May I point out that our favourite blue alien race has a goddess, that those salarian dudes have a cult like worship or belive in something that mirrors hinduism and do I even need to mention the Hanar?

Apparently its fine for them to have religion, but not futuristic humans.

Liara actually explains that Asari religion is not monotheistic anymore 'by the goddess, is more of an expression tha anything else"  The Salarians believe in reincarnation, not a diety, and the Hanar are idiots

So religion is fine as long as it isn't monotheism?

I don't even know what to do with this.

You do realise that both the Asari's and Salarian's religions have concept of spirtual energy the same way that most of Humanities monotheistic religions do right? The only difference is that there is a creator in the later.

Given that it has her hair pulled back, actually looks like a uniform, and isn't an eye-jarring shade of blue, I can live with a little cleavage.

Hottness doesn't enter into it.  Though yes it is hot.

Okay, at this point I'm compelled to ask:

Are you being offensive as part of some attempt to make a point, or are you just trolling?

I'm on the fence about Ashley's makeover in ME3. I have no problem with them attempting to make Ashley look more attractive to a more general audience rather than just tomboy fans. Every single LI in Mass Effect is guilty of some degree of fan service, Kaidan included. However, I think they could've just let her hair down, possibly give her the Alliance grade push up bra that everyone in the series suddenly got if necessary and leave it at that. The heels and the new battle dress uniform were a bit much.

She's supposed to be the opposite of Miranda. That's the point. I like both as potential LIs in the game but they should be contrasting each other. Ash even states this herself. "I wear armor into battle. Not swimwear." It's made worse by the fact that once she's a permanent squadmate, her battle dress uniform is actually her default outfit with the armor as an alternate outfit so technically, she DOESN'T wear armor into battle anymore.  Oh and yeah, it's way too blue.  I love her alternate outfit from the N7 Collector's Edition pack though.  That one suits her perfectly since it's a throwback to her old colour scheme.  If only there was an armor varation.

As a male, I'm not gonna complain about what I see of course.

The cynic and conspiracy theorist in me almost wondered if Bioware intentionally made her into a bombshell not just for new players but for a certain type of returning player. The two timer Shepard. You hit on her in ME1 because you weren't down with blue alien sex. Then ME2 comes out, your jaw drops at the sight of Miranda and jump all over that. ME3 rolls around, Ashley's hot now so you're back on that and you're made to feel bad about breaking up with your fling Miranda by making her cry and effectively killing her off.

Not to go off topic but it always bugged me that Miranda and Jacob always seemed less like legitimate LIs and more like opportunities for Shepard to commit adultery. The fact that they're very fan service friendly and their treatments in ME3 don't do much to dispel that conspiracy. Which is too bad because Miranda is one of my favourite LIs in the series and it's not at all because of fan service.

Oh, as to the actual topic.

The hair being down didn't bother me too much, either way would have worked. Her suit worked fine as Normandy wear, just switch her to her armour if you have problems for combat aesthetics.

It was only the extra makeup that got put on that seemed over the top. Can't unsee the eye liner no matter how hard I try.

Ashley remains pretty hot but she shouldn't be wearing Stilettos in combat for **** sakes... geeze..
And she should talk more and her feelings and stuff...

Me 3 really should have had a DA:O style make out dialog option that keeps be interested...

I thought Ash's makeup in ME3 could've been a little more subtle but otherwise no big deal.

Well this thread has turned into an Ashley bash thread and a Cerberus vs alliance war.

I'll do my part. I hate ashley, and I'd support Cerberus over the alliance any day. Do what you have to do to win. The alliance sure as hell didn't.

Nope, ME 3 Ash looked like she'd had a bad plastic surgery experience, her hair not-withstanding. I thought she looked great in 1 & 2.

Lol Ashley spent all her money on a boob job and plastic surgery. I thought she would buy a better gun and armour. That and I found her shiny lips disturbing. This is a Reaper invasion Ashley, we don't have time for you to fix your makeup and nonsensical long hair during a gunfight.

I don't know, it's just the overall idea behind all this.

Nothing against a new haircut but why does it have to be so damn unpractical? Why a skin-tight cat-suit? Why heels? Why is this used in combat (unlike Kaidan who changes into armor)? Why so much make-up? Let's not talk about the galaxy-wide "improvement" of female assets.

I'm a woman, so maybe that's why I frown when I smell sexualization for the sake of a mostly male audience. Is that really necessary.

So some people are not into the tomboy look? So what? It was part of her personality. I really have a hard time seeing Ashley play barbie doll ON THE JOB!

Weird, I don't have that much of problem with Miranda. I'm obviously not against eye candy in general (I may roll my eyes once or twice and then move on). Turning a character into someone s/he is not bugs me.

No, what they did to Ash was horrible, she's hardly recognizable anymore. At least with Kaidan I knew it was him right away, all they did was improve his face and hair. Ash was a complete redesign to make her "sexy". Said right in the dam art book. I miss ME Ash.

I would have. That boob window is even more ridiculous than the large blatant ones, it's like they literally just cut a square out of a perfectly proper suit with a pair of scissors just to make it a little racy instead of designing a suit to be racy.

The only reason for this was so Ashley could compete with Miranda. No one is going to stick with Ashley from ME1 when compared to Miranda.

Its just simple biology

What? Speak for yourself on that one. I loved everything about Ash in ME1. If all you care about are women with perfect 10 bodies, then i guess in that case those people would go with Miranda. But a lot of men aren't like that, myself included. Sure i would love to have a perfect 10 girl, but if she has a bad personality then that's a huge turnoff for me. Miranda isn't a bad person, but i like Ashley's personality a lot more. Regardless i found Ash's looks and personality attractive in ME1, and even if she kept the same look in ME3, i would've rekindled my romance with her in a heartbeat.

@OP

I do like her new look in ME3, but i prefer the old Ash more, and the personality just wasn't there this time around. Chris L'Etoile wrote her character in ME1, but unforunately he wasn't involved in ME2&3, which explains why her character wasn't all that good in ME3.

This is what Ashley should've looked like in ME3:

Posted Image

wow, that looks awesome.

I like Ashley because she seems like one of the few squadmates who have an interesting character flaw... That and because she doesent blindly believe everything shes told by the PC (  As if a real person WOULDNT be highly suspicious of a person who openly worked for a terrorist orgaization for a time)

I LIKED how my shep had to re earn her trust.

around these parts if a character doesent blindly worship the ground shep walks on they are bad :P
