Her look would of been fine if Bioware didn't flat out say: "we let her hair down and gave her sex appeal"

Like she wasn't great looking before, they had to paste Miranda's ass on her and make her look generic. I miss that bun.

I find it amusing how they reason her stupid hair style as "She and Shepard are well acquainted by ME3" lol yeah that's why she b!tched and complained to my Shepard for nearly all of it since she apparently knew her so well. Yeah right.

I liked Ashley in ME1 because she looked like she was a real soldier, with thick armour, rifle and hair pulled back so it wasn't in the way; long hair and skin tight amour is not good material for a Soldier, since that is her legit class. I can understand Miranda more, since she's a more scientist orientated woman and her pervo-dad designed her to be smexy-smexy (implications unpleasent), but Ashley is a dirt-and-bullet Soldier but she really does NOT portray that in her dolled up attire and makeup. As someone said, her hair obscures most of her vision on her left; hopefully no enemies come at her from that angle :?

And I love how a romanced Ashley criticizes Shepard for getting with Miranda.

I don't mind Ashley's look in any of the games. I prefer that characters change throughout the games. It keeps them fresh and interesting, and give a feeling that time has went by. Just as long as I am able to recognize them.

So again. Ashley's changes throughout the series is not a problem for me.

I agree with you completely, but I'll keep saying it, the mindset behind a change is a key element to consider as well.

Bioware suggested there was going to be a big confrontation scene if you were unfaithful in ME2 but it never materialized.

I mind her clothes.

Those GODAWFUL clothes that COMPLETELY don't fit any military personal. Let alone high ranking officer.

My sentiments exactly.

Agree with the bolded.  Its the mindset that makes

One thing I always thought they should have done was let her keep her practical look while on duty and during combat, but let her put her hair down during casual times like off duty drinking w/ Vega, the Citadel date, or pre-endgame sex.  Would have been a nice transformation (yes its this trope).  But that sh*tty uniform has got to go.

The point is that she criticizes Miranda's outfit and looks, very hypocritical IMO

Agreed. One of my gripes with Miranda and the ME2 cast generally is that they look almost exactly the same as before.

Jack was the exception who was given a makeover for the better. It really conveys a sense of character progression.

The makeover and character progression don't have to be mutually exclusive.

Sure.

But how I see it, making her look more girlish isn't against her character as some others here seem to think. She isn't written as a man, and then the writers just switched the gender to female (like what was pretty much the case with Aveline in DA2).

Ashley is written as a female that also is a soldier. She isn't wearing the girly/sexy uniform to battle, or if she does then that is your own damn fault, and you don't get to complain! The game defaults Ashley to wearing her armor into combat. Just play the Mars mission. She is not in her girly/sexy uniform, but her armor.

And some people seem to think that putting on a lipstick and letting her hair down equals all kind of synonoms to ****...

Well I guess I must be from a whole other cultural part of the world.

Sej, did you see her original in-game armor before people complained? And don't get me wrong, I'm not ****ing directly towards Ash or her character, she's always been one of my favourites, I'm aiming this towards Bioware and certain gaming mindsets of "sexy!"

Her in-combat garb only defaults to the armor on Mars. After picking Ashley up after the coup, it's right back to the officer's uniform (as Bioware wants to call it).

She was suspicious on Horizon, was suspicious on Earth, suspicious on Mars, I thought she finally go it at Huerta Memorial, but no she kept insisting that I was a traitor.

Kaida shut up on Mars and apologized at Huerta, he then watched me gun down Udina

She was suspicious on Horizon.  Didn't get to talk to her much on Earth, was suspicious of TIM on Mars (worried he put Cerberus tech to control Shepard in him) but was reassured by my answers.

Never insisted Shepard was a traitor during the standoff.  Mainly expressed confusion as to what was going on.

My playthrough was identical to this, save different squadmates

From 0:35 to 1:55  Ash was convinced Shepard was telling the truth and turned on Udina.

I hope your Shepard looked better than that.

And that's not how mine played out, I had to do a reputation check just to not kill her

No, I use Sheploo.  My attempts at customizing have resulkted in some rather horrific lab experiments

But that's how my confrontation took place, scene for scene.  I don't know what you did, but Ash trusted my Shep.

She kept going on and on abot Cerberus this and Cerberus that, she's lucky I wanted another squadmate

Well...sucks to be you, I guess :P

No. I didn't see the original. People still seem to complain about the current though? Or am I mistaken?

I have been in the army with women, and I know some women that are in the army at this very moment. Few of them are practically men and behave like that all the time, but most of them do very much enjoy looking feminine whenever possible. Ashley's character fits in just fine among the latter bunch.

I'm not against characters who develop over time, that's actually a good thing. Thing is just that Ash's redesign is this - a redesign made by the Bioware design team with the explicit intent of beefing up her sex appeal. It's not character development, it's trying to appeal to the... assumed tastes of their intended audience.

There isn't any reason shown in the game(s) why Ash would completely change her style. She was a 'no bull****' Alliance soldier with every fibre of her being, it was basically in her blood. What happened in the months between Horizon and Earth that had her wearing not only make-up and a highly impractical hairstyle, but dress in something that isn't remotely recognizable as an Alliance uniform? Whom did she sleep with to get the permission to wear whatever the **** she pleases? Just, what the ****?

Ash in ME1 is one of my favourite characters in the franchise, and they managed to more or less ruin the character for me in ME3. It didn't help that she was my canon Shep's single LI and I felt he had more relevant conversations with Javik than with her...

Sure but I can't think of anything better to express change and especially the passage of time as a fresh new look.

Max Payne has changed dramatically in each game and that sense of time would be undercut if he looked the same.

I liked Ashley, in one a lot, she was a great character. Her makeover in 2 was not extreme, if anything it could just be attributed to better graphics.

Then 3 comes along and wtfisthis.

Now why couldn't this have been her default look in ME3? Admittedly that pose looks like it's hurting her back, but she looks way better in default armour and with her hair pulled up, rather than that stupid flimsy dress-armour with her hair all over.

Also awkward moment when fans do better rendentions/upgrades of characters; damn that happened alot with Tali too.
