Proportional Representation

I mean in Thedas, you've got what 4 or 5 parties (Templars, Inquisitors, Mages (never mind that they aren't unified), Seekers, etc.). First Past the Post would give Thedas the stability it needs...
BTW, is Fereldan an absolute or constitutional monarchy?

Instant Run-off is fine (mixed with First Past the Post) but pure Mixed Member Proportional voting would allow for too many minority (hung) parliaments with fringe parties getting too much sway...

I was speaking more in generalities than to Thedas in particular. Besides, I like the idea of the government having to be formed from a coalition of multiple viewpoints. First Past the Post seems to lead to a two party system where many people's views aren't represented at all.
I'm pretty sure you'd call Thedas an absolute monarchy. I think that council from DAO (What was it called again?) only really decides anything when there isn't a reigning monarch. I could be wrong though.
On Topic: The main issue I see with these large-scale armies in DAI is one of hardware. If DAI is set to appear on current gen consoles they might have trouble depicting many soldiers at once. If it's only on PC and next gen, well that's a whole different story.

Really? You guys are going to keep derailing?
Why do you care? Of my four posts the last two have included responses to the topic. Of Brodoteau's posts, one of two was almost entirely on topic. Even OT posts bump your thread and get more people to see it.

Oh I know, I was just having some fun -- but I would argue the First Past the Post, while it might ultimately lead to a two party system, those two parties ending having a bigger tent because smaller viewpoints are forced to worked together. Hence, you have your multiple viewpoints within the parties (where they can fight it out on their own time and not in government situation). To give a Dragon Age Example, (because, you know, it's related) the different sects within the circle of Magi serve as a check and balance on each other, when one gets too much influence, power or goes off on their own (like Uldred) than bad things happen. In essence, FPP parties end up become more centrist and that's where most people are in the political spectrum. That's why I like FPP.
But, I have to get back to the topic at hand, lest my wrist be slapped yet again by the OP. Sheesh... and he won't even give us his political perspective to boot
So, yah, big battles are neat and all, but I have a question for the OP. Waves were one of the most reviled elements of DA2, yet how could you do a big army type battle without the concept of waves? And what do you think about a "tower defense" type of set piece, is that something you'd like to see?
