Bad game is still bad and ME3 was a truly massive failure, no doubt. Opinions.

Don't worry, I fixed that for you.

Because that is what your view of ME3 amounts to and what Gamerinformer's view amounts to: opinions. Nothing more, nothing less.

Mass Effect 3 ? Bad game... no matter how much paid awards they get---

GOTY for ME1 ? Hell Yes

GOTY for ME2 ? Well maybe

GOTY for ME3 ? Hell no...

These days it´s up to bigger blasts, boobs and more shoting than good old storytelling without plotholes and failures...

Because ME3 having more dialogue thant ME1 or 2 it some how has less story.

I don't know...what's the best game of 2012 for you guys? I mean seriously. I've had like 23 hours of pure enjoyment of ME3 then this ending crap..

But any other 2012 game didn't even give me 20 hours of enjoyment this year. Dishonored? Nope, not really. Black Ops 2? Yeah right...

If I had to choose any game I played this year it'd be contest between Battlefield 3, Witcher 2 or StarCraft 2. Man that'd be tough.

I got far more hours of enjoyment out of Borderlands 2 then I ever got out of ME3. But I'm still not sure I would vote Borderlands 2 as GOTY though. ME3 is not a bad game per se. But it still was a huge disappointment, it could have been so much more. I got far far more enjoyment out of ME1 and 2. So it doesn't feel right putting my vote on ME3 either.

I honestly don't know which game my GOTY 2012 vote would go to.

In the end I guess I'm just glad that at least CoD didn't win.

But lets just say it like this. No matter how hugely dissatisfied I was with the pretentious and contrived ending of Mass Effect 3 I still want Bioware to continue making games like Mass Effect and Dragon Age (just with better endings). And maybe this award is a incentive for them to continue making games and continue to exceed themselves.

There are a lot of people on this forum who claim to hate/intensely dislike ME3. I would assume that people who hate ME3 no longer play the game. So why are people who hate the game, and no longer play it, so actively involved in the forums? If I disliked a game I'd uninstall it and get on with my life - I certainly wouldn't hang around on the forums moaning about it. Either these people don't hate it as much as they claim, or they have absolutely no lives whatsoever.

Ah reviewers, just as I think it couldn't be more obvious that you're paid stooges, you go ahead and make something like this. Bravo, well done.

And to those that think the game deserves it, you guys most be so used to buy unpolished products that you now think it's the norm or something. That's pretty funny too.

Oh no! Someone liked something I didn't! That's clearly impossible, so they must have been paid off.

inb4 "stop complaining about complainers ...blah blah blah" lol

I'm totally with you bro. I don't get it either. If I hated something, I'd go play another game that I enjoy and forget about the rest. Maybe some are just masochists? I get the feeling some just get pleasure from complaining just for the sake of complaining. But who knows? I can only speculate on their thought-process. Makes little sense one way or the other.

Oh no. Somebody doesn't understand that a reviewer's job is to recommend games based on their quality and that Mass Effect 3 is a 7-8/10 game at the very best, but instead tries to recommend it to consumers as one of the best video game experiences ever, including even lying in the first sentence. Not to mention ignoring that other games that consumers disliked also got 10/10 and all that.

Debating on forums is another form of entertainment/pastime and should not be confused with playing the game itself.
Actually people debating about things in general that they do not like or enjoy is not unheard of. It's rather common in fact.

Aye, Bioware (the team) should get props for it's awesome work.  The game, was awesome, and was running up to be one of my favorite games ever.  And then, the ending, absolutely horrible, forces player to submit to most antagonist, retcons, plot holes, ruins replayability, is really depressing, etc.

But I don't want that to overshadow everything well done about Mass Effect 3.   So that's a good sentiment, even if I can't get past the sadness of what happened to my favorite game series.

Considering the competition, this is pretty unjust. Best RPG - maybe, but there are games which delivered more.

7-8? Well, that's your "opinion".....and nothing more. Too bad you're not a professional videogame journalist, I guess.

Besides, it wasn't just GI that gave it a high score. Every other major publication did.

And please, don't act like you speak for the majority of consumers. I know its hard to accept, but the popular opinion on the BSN and the popular opinion of the gaming community, are not one in the same.

Good on them as well. Say what you want about the endings, but the game itself was still superb and the conclusion of this amazing trilogy is definately one of those gaming milestones that the critics will eat up.

These days, the ending controversy just makes the game stand out more than anything else. The Extended Cut sorts out all the plot holes, but the controversy and the sheer subversive nature just makes it more interesting to write about than your generic functional endings where the good guy wins and there's a hook for the next sequel.

It's the opinion of anyone who doesn't gush over heads and heels and look at the game critically on where it does good and where it does bad. I forgot that in todays "all major games must have 9-10/10" that 7 is seen as a bad score. It's also funny that you use the word professional, they're not. If they were then they would be incompetent. Tell me why for example ME 3 deserved 10/10 or MSG 4, or GTA IV.

Are you guys so much in love with stories, that you're willing to ignore the faults of a game?

lol well, they are indeed professionals. It's their profession. It's what they do for a living. It's okay you can't admit that fact. But that's exactly what it is. A fact.

Funny, you're still trying to dictate who's opinions are what...

And being a long time fan of the GTA series, I can honestly say that I can't stand GTAIV. And I think MGS4 is one of the most overrated games of the last decade(the entire series is imo).....but you know, those are just my own "opinions", and I surely don't think to myself: "whoever thinks those games are good, are just idiots and are completely wrong"

Guess what. That "professional video game journalist" of yours is also stating nothing more but his opinion.

Same with every other major publication. Let's not even mention the fact that most journalists aren't playing through the entire game if it's like 30 hours long, since they have deadlines and such.

Also, the popular opinion of the gaming community is that ME3's endings sucked ass.
