Just saying man, a lot of people around here are pretty much the reason why the industry is what it is. I  wouldn't be the first to condemn since you are without sin as well. 

So what do you think of the gaming "media" celebrating games that are 7-8/10 as 10/10 games?

Considering I am a part of that media, I think it needs to stop.

But since I didn't do that to Mass Effect 3, my hands are clean in the end.

Congratulations Bioware, must be an amazing feeling!

Not my personal GOTY (that would be The Walking Dead or Spec Ops: The Line), but easily in my Top 5, and I can see why it won (it was excellent IMO, it's just for me personally TWD and SO:TL were ZOMGBRAINEXPLOSIONAWESOMENESS)

Congratulations anyway BioWare, use this as an excuse to launch a Mass Effect 3 GOTY Edition for more $$$ and justify more corridor shooting pew-pew for DLC.

Nah, I woke up in 1999, but I still get pissed when I see how those "journalists" praise games as the "THE BEST EVA!" when in reality, they're good games, but not a masterpiece. Hell I loved the GTA series, and GTA: San Andreas is one of fav games of all time, but when I tried GTA 4 I was surprised as I didn't experience any moment where I had fun. "This is boring, why is the controls so bad?" is what came to my mind. Then you check the internet and the media is performing oral pleasure to the game, praising it like it's Dungeon Keeper (the first one) or something.

thats because we have ****ty journalists out there who need to learn to be more subtle, even-handed, and rigorous in their writing styles. They need to stop giving out blanket praise and start giving more difficult criticism.

Most cant do that, and the few that do are just dicks and entertainers. (And yeah, that makes me a dick too because I am confident that I can actually construct a good review)

The worst I've seen by far is IGN's review of Halo 4. I was gagging. There is literally no difference in a fanboy's review and that review. Just one got paid for it and the other didn't. It offers no professional insight or different angle on anything.

It has little to do with someome being dishonest, its more about reviewers not showing restraint or any form of cohesive writing.

Black ops 2, Halo 4, Max Payne 3 and Journey. Journey is the only good one of the three if you ask me. 

Black Ops 2 had a surprisingly good soundtrack actually. Lots of sweet synth stuff rom Jack Wall. I haven't played Max Payne 3, but the soundtrack is amazing. I'm a huge fan of electronic soundtracks and music in general. Haven't heard H4 or Journey.

Journey is beautiful, beautiful.  But don't only AAA titles get nonimated by websites and magizines?

Ooh, don't forget the one who writes as if he's the hulk! He said about the Catalyst dialogue that it was extremely insightful and reminiscent of ME's main themes. Note that he was writing about the pre-ec endings...

I think it does. A reviewer that gushes over a game and at the same ignores all the flaws, is either totally incompetent or dishonest.

eh...with no context I don't know what he is trying to say. It seems like a positive review gushing over something rather banal.

I actually agree with you, I really don't see why they keep insisting.  The whole "I don't like where the whole gaming industry is going" mindset... it's been like this for years.  Money/Purchases speaks louder than words.

I really shouldn't get upset about this, I know. But this kind of behaviour, in my opinion, keeps this industry what it is. Me and many other (former) ME fans will know not to trust bioware's every word in the future, we will know not to buy into the hype and buy a rushed dumbed down game. But this news will reach the ears of the 12 year old hyperactive console kids that EA loves as an audience. They will simply buy into the hype next time, and surprise surprise.... dumbing down a series to make it appeal to the masses - resulting in an inferior game - will still be profitable, despite all this backlash. I hate this trend, but I cannot stop it by myself simply by refraining from buying into this garbage.

Unfortunately, this dispicable behaviour is keeping this trend going and it's what's ruining the game industry. This is why I'm getting upset about these things.
