Ah sweet fanboy-hate tears. They're even sweater because people still haven't got over the ending, which is equal parts pathetic/ridiculous/hilarious.

U mad bros?

Eww.

Yeah I thought I was the only one who caught that.  I vomited in my mouth a tad.

Entirely opinionated aswell hence " editors pick " as i thought ME3 was crap from start to finish and actually Dragons dogma gave me more for my RPG fix than ME3 did but that didnt even get a mention......news of the world was the biggest newspaper in the country in the uk.......yet had to fold because of scandals and propaganda so journalism is hardly something to look upto for truth........make of that what u will.

Well I for one agree with GameInformer, regardless of video-game-journalism nuances. That's my two cents to this thread.

What Zelda Informer gave the game a 10/10, they had no choice. Even if they had changed their mind about the game.

Zelda Informer would have all their readership shouting at them "you gave the game a 10/10 but didn't give it GOTY, I HATE U". They would have looked stupid.

Maybe if you take it as its own game, then sure, ME3 stands a chance at winning GOTY since starchild only wrecks a 20 hour investment and not 100 hours. ME3 had solid combat, a decent story until the end, and has a surprisingly fun multiplayer. But to suggest it wins because it successfully ends an otherwise awesome trilogy is just wrong. I was far more satisfied by Halo 4's story arch than ME3's, and Halo is a FPS for crying out loud, that should be blasphemy!

I bought Halo 4 to play through the campaign because I loved Halo 1-3.  Even Reach was pretty good.  And man, Halo 4's story was shamefully bad.  I tried so hard to enjoy it, I really did.  But that thing was a trainwreck.  I haven't touched the game since.

Just another humbling case of "don't ever get your expectations up, even for what may seem like a sure thing."

Not to give anything away spoiler wise, but I felt that Halo's finale, even though it had its deus ex moments, was a fitting conclusion for what the story told.  I walked away from that game thinking "sure they pulled some things out of thin air, but darn it, that was emotionally fitting and I accomplished something".  I didn't feel that way from Mass Effect, but I did with halo which is why I enjoyed the overall experience more even though it took half the game for the plot to kick in.

I'd be careful about drinking other people's tears. That's how a lot of trolls contract Hepatitis B.

Not over the ending, just over the usual gaming media pandering to the publishers and screwing over the consumers.

Why?

I don't think there's EVER been ANY media publication that had the consumer's best interests in mind.

And yes, that includes Consumer Reports.

Maybe that's why. Especially cause there's still people that believe. Hell we got people on this very forum who thinks that ME 3 is the best game eva and states the 75 perfect reviews to give their argument weight, while ignoring every flaw pointed out.

Oh geez, you mentioned the 75 perfect reviews...I MUST POST THIS! Can't...resist...!

WOW.....over 75 perfect scores......the gaming industry should be ashamed.....it's beyond a joke.

Well good for Bioware then. Still won't change my future purchase decisions regarding EA products, but good for them I suppose.

I don't think Mass Effect 3, even with the ending, was a horrible game. But even without the ending, I felt Mass Effect 3 wasn't a particularly great game either. The only improvement from the previous game I saw was in combat, everything else, levels, story, characters, art design was at best the same as Mass Effect 2, and sometimes even worse, not to mention the fact that a lot of content that should have been in Mass Effect 3 wasn't, such as Vehicle Combat, proper Side Missions, and a climax that at least lived up to ME2's Suicide Mission.

And then after that you have all the FUBAR with the fanbase with Day-1 DLC, the ending debacle, Tali's Face, etc. and the poor handling of the harsh criticism. Granted, how the community acts doesn't actually impact the game itself, but it's a simple fact that ME3 has a tarnished reputation, regardless of anyone's viewpoint.

Bottom-Line, there had to have been a better choice for game of the year.

It was not a good year for games. Really. Not a good year for games. Great year for playing golf. Bad year for video games. But then they never play the games all the way through. They'll get to Tuchanka and the Thresher Maw scene and say "yes, this is it." Then they'll rate the game. They probably never got to the horrible horrible ending.

I didn't do that much gaming this year.

I really love ME3, apart from the ending/Starchild that is and some 'minor' things like the fiasco with Tali's face (reduce a beloved character to a 2 second Paint-job and fully model a useless character like Allers).

People acting like it's some kind of giant turd are completely overreacting. Play a game like 'Rogue Warrior' and experience first hand what a giant pile of manure gaming companies unleash upon us (it was published by Bethesda no less).

ME3 is not my personal GoTY, but I can understand why it is for a lot of people. No need to shout out EA is paying all the publications.

Uhm, Jacob's mission? Grunt's mission? Samara's? Grissom Academy? Every one of those were better than eevry single ME2 side mission combined.

Having diologue tied to it does not flesh it out and most of it was fetch quest.

Certain side missions were fleshed out. And others were just MP missions against AI. So it really depends on which mission you are talking about.

Mass effect 3 even had side missions?

Oh they mean the fetch quests where you scan a system for an item then bring it back to a random person on the citadel after a lot of searching because of the horrible journal.

Or those random Shepard vs Cerberus missions directly copied from the multiplayer where you grab an item then get out?

If those things have to pass for actual missions these days, this industry has sunk deep.
