You're surprised that the highest rated game of the year got game of the year? I think you need to understand that everyone else is not going to ignore 98% of a great game because of a contriversial 2%.

Dreman, MW3 did come out last year.

The gaming media and the fans especially BSN fans have an antagonistic relationship towards one another. Many publications never even finished ME3 before they reviewed it and the role of Chobot in ME3 raises a lot of questions about conflicts of interest. Game Informer in particular came under fire as did a few others. I wonder how much of their decision was about sticking it to the fans vs a genuine like of ME3. Even "pro-enders" or whatever they're called here share a similar contempt.

I guess looking at ME3 as a standalone game would be how they did it. Its so much worse than ME2, ut better than a lot of games that came out this year

Metacritic isn't a solid indicator of which game wins GOTY.

ME2 ( I believe) was the highest rated game of 2010 yet that award went to Red Dead Redemption.

Too bad TWD is 1000000x better than ME3. The only problem is that EA isn't paying to give it GOTY.

Makes sense. The game is a masterpiece of epic proportions. Most mind blowing video game ending I've ever experienced.

My personal option though. Kudos to Bioware for winning. They deserve it.

Have I never said it was perfect? I only argue ageinst points that are generally nickpicky or ignore general consept of the plot and story.
It clear why I like the game. I've not or ever said everyone else must like it.

Cod MW3 is not the highest rated game of the year. It's not even the highest rated shooter, Farcry 3 is the highest rated shooter.
 ME3, if you take the time to look, is the highest rated  published game of the year.

MW3 was last year and it was the highest rated champ. ME3 was garbage and I can thing of a handful of other games that were a better choice.
