.. the last time, it was a muzzle flash .. will this one finish the job?
(personal opinion)
my approach is "wait and see" ... it they really pull of something personal (character & crew) and uplifting, i will bite. but i do not expect it. in this case, i can only win.

Dont bet on that. ME3 was released barely 2 years after ME2, and that's only because of delays. If they couldn't put in the time and effort for a second sequel, they can crap out a third in less time.

i dont .. they will wait and boil up the hype.
within the next few weeks, nothing big is going to happen ... omega is still warm, christmas is at the doorsteps and the current rumors are enough to keep the people busy.
my guess is, that some of the other vas are going to twitter, that they are on the job as well. (what is only logical)
you can take it as granted, that nothing gets twittered by anyone, without approval from bioware. they all have signed contracts, who pledges them to secrecy.

ME2 and ME3 had the same dev time.
However, they're starting from scratch with ME4 with a new engine and it will probably be on next gen consoles. Perhaps it will release in 2014 but there is more of a chance that it will be out in 2015.

highly possible.
but they will wait until omega is cold ... they need its residual heat to keep bsn alive .. the ending discussion are getting old.
i would say, that most of the new dlc is already done - they will just wait for the right moment.

Let's also remember that for ME2 BW had to go back and make improvements to the engine to suit the console better.MegaSovereign wrote...

Yeah? Knowing how Mac Walters and co. were winging the writing as they went along, and knowing the time it can take to write and revise a script, then forge everything around that script, I doubt they had the same dev time. I won't even consider the delays ME3 went through. ME3 went into preproduction directly before ME2 released. Assuming it went into preproduction in late (November or December) 2009, that would give them 23 months to draft, revise, and re-revise a script, then actually develop the game, program it, animate the cutscenes, record dialogue, bug test alpha and beta builds (before "full" demos), fix those bugs, and then touch up on minute details. Remember that Bioware isn't Infinity Ward or Treyarch, where 500+ people can shoot out a COD every year.
Knowing how difficult and time consuming drafting and finalizing a script can be, let's be generous and give them 6-8 months on the writing. That would leave around 15-17 months for everything else (which, IMO should take longer considering ME3 has to take many choices from both 1 and 2 into account and to assure quality). It's obvious they shortened the bug testing (or even skipped it altogether), what with the wrong animations, strange texture glitches, and audio files failing to play. I would say that not only did Me3 have a shorter cycle than ME2, but also a shoddier one.

There's also the little matter of the ME2 DLC developed alongside that. The lead writer wanted Arrival to set up the beginning of ME3. Arrival was released at the end of March 2011. The original release date of ME3 was 'holiday season' 2011. So the lead writer was working on stuff that's supposed the set the basis for the plot of the game he was 'lead writing' for less than a year before ME3 was scheduled to be released.
And of course, in the end there was no Trial of Shep that was prepared for in Arrival. But who cares as long as the paycheck's arrival works out alright. Cuz that's how the Macman rolls.

THIS!
Well, of course not, but note that I said it would be nice to hear that they were returning. That would certainly indicate that Shepard is, shall we say more active than just a bag of bones being lifted up.
Don't get me wrong, I'd be truly happy if it included one scene of friends finding that very alive torso and that they (LI and friends) see that Shepard is alive and that Shepard sees that they are too. I'd love that. I'd apologize to BW for every mean, nasty, and prompted by frustration, thing I've said (well, mostly). And, I would think they had at last remembered how important Shepard was to this story this time. I have the bar set very low, because I'd much prefer this sort of scene be in context with a rational, coherent ending that showed real consequences and that affirmed that not only defeating the reapers mattered, but how it was done and what it left behind. And, also that people were released from the shackles of an AI that had been trying to decide and create their future all along.

No. They'll be working with a new engine designing a game for new consoles. The technical aspect of this alone will extend developement time. Even EA's not that dumb to force them to make a new game on new engine for new consoles under 2 years. Especially after DA2 fiasco and the backlash they got for rushing it out.o Ventus wrote...
