No, in order to find Shepard alive you must max out your war assets which means buying Leviathan and Omega DLC.  You want your happy ending then get ready to handout all your $$$$$$.  Image IPB

I'm cool with that. Anybody else cool with that?

No complaints here. Although I don't see how Omega would factor into this since its not really related to the Reaper War.

Mac Walters, eh? Have they hired a science advisor for him yet?

I would just be happy if he actually read books before he wrote.

From his writing, it's rather more likely he reads comics.

Well he is a comic book writer, so that makes sense.

If only his comics were any good.

Considering you played a Comic-book style game...why the hell are you all complaining?

I don't see the comparison.

@LinksOcarina:
There's a difference between an artistic style reminiscent of comic books and a level of scientific knowledge comparable to what you usually find in comic book writing. The latter is appropriate for a comic book, maybe, but if you start talking about details of biology in an SF work you'd better know something of the subject matter.

Given the way DLC is scheduled out; is this the next one or the next-next one?

Since we have no idea how long they are going to continue creating DLC, these rumors are for the next sinlge player DLC after Omega. Whether or not this is the last single player DLC we are going to get is anyone's guess.

It's an IT expansion that will cost $40, rejoice.

I don't think it will be an IT thing but I am betting since they are putting so much work into it it is gonna be a $20 dlc

Geez, and I thought $15 for Omega was overpriced...

If the eight man writing team is consisting of the main writers from the game and lead by good ol' Mac, this shouldn't be anything too special.

Eight writers won't outdo one good writer.

What did I miss? No offense, but if you like Synthesis you must be able to accept a lot of scientific nonsense.

Based on the apparent scale of the production and the returning talent, the DLC is expected to be single player focused, and it's rumoured to involve the Citadel, the deep-space station which serves as the capital of the Citadel Council.

Citadel? bah, we already knew.. that DLC is already in the game, now to pay other 1200 BSP to unlock it!

Do you think I like that? Bullsh*t like the "final evolution of life" and "essences of species" (ME2)? And then he does on to "explain" Synthesis while being completely ignorant of why "join your essence with the Crucible" is a problem. Gods, an average high-school student in my country would laugh her head off about this.

I choose Synthesis in spite of that, not because of it.

That's almost the price of an expansion. So probably not. There are size limits on DLC's anyway.

"Unusually, the as-yet untitled DLC will feature an eight-person writing team. This includes core members of the Mass Effect 3 staff such as lead writer Mac Walters."

lol

I share your concern about involving a writer responsible for one of the worst endings in gaming history.  Egos need to be left behind and a path for Shepard to survive this game needs to be created.  (No, you don't have to use his character in the next installment.  Just give us a winning path in this game.)

There is a compelling economic incentive to fix this.  Hopefully, people will see the benefit and not get caught up in their "vision" for the original ending, which was so disappointing to those who were invested in the main character.

This is a polite way of asking them to ... "sell out."  And you know what? I think a surprising number of gamers would be ok with that.

In a way, though I think the connotations of that phrase usually imply actions to the detriment of the fanbase instead of the benefit.

I haven't purchased any DLC since that horrible ending and EC.  I have always said I'd go back and buy it all if they fixed the ending and there was a way to win the game with Shepard surviving.    I would do it, yes.

I don't think it is a sellout.  Keep the existing pathways for those who like them.  Create a new one for those many, many fans who do not.  Everyone now truly chooses his/her own path.
