^ It also give precedent to the creation of "mercenary writers" whose sole curriculum will be getting hired onto a project simply for the cash with no investment in the series, doing a quick write up, and than getting payed while they walk away and the company tanks. Effectively bane capital with fictional writing. I see the potential damage this could do, and the risk are simply too great for me to agree with. Call me cynical, but enough good ideas have gone bad and ruined entire industries for me to jump on board. If they're going to hire a writer, hire them full time, if not, than what's the point of doing it for one dlc when the next one will just fall by the wayside?

And yes, the podcast he did showed that many know of him and like him, I just can't bring myself to be a fan of his works, something about it just doesn't feel right to me in my gut.

TV's had guest writers for decades. What's the difference? It's not like a bad writer is going to force themselves onto a company; any game developer who doesn't vet its guest writers equally as well as its stable is probably not the type of developer who cares much for good stories in the first place. Writers submit scripts, the company looks them over, rejects the ones they don't like, keep and rework the ones they do.

As for Koobismo, may I ask for clarification on a point? What exactly do you not like about him? Do you feel he's a bad writer in general, or do you not like the direction he choose to take the story? If the latter, do you think you might find a non-IT-related fictional work of his acceptable, or do you not like his writing in general? (I'm not trying to nitpick or mock you, just curious!)

My problem is there isnt a non-IT work of his ive found, at least on deviantart. It just seems his work is entirley centered on the indoctrination theory, so all his work is laced with a pre-condition I do not agree with. Its like if a person made a good comic series based on a post-synthesis ending plot, no matter how good it is, that pre-condition for this comics premise would probably bother people and keep them from enjoying it, same thing. Hes a great writer, I just dont agree with his preference and as such his work is not to my taste.

So, a lot like Mac Walters, except they won't stay around to milk the franchise with comic prequels for every character.

Wonder if we will be put in the shoes of Joker again. My guess, is that they may let us after the ending. It won't change the outcome, or have any effect on what you did or how the galaxy will pan out, but it may give us some more closure of what happened to Shep.

Theory:

Your squad mates, or at least Joker travel back to Earth to search through the ruins. You run into some looters, or some sort of enemy and have to fight them off as you search. The map will be huge, an big enough for you to explore a very large portion of London, going from destroyed building to destroyed building, searching for some sign of what happened. Now, if it was destroy, you find Shep's body, whether he/she is still alive is up in the air, my guess is you find him, but you can't stop him/her from dying. If you chose synthesis or destroy, you find his/her dogtags, and some sentimental cutscene plays.

It could function like the mission where you find the dogtags of your crew near the crash of the first Normandy. If this is true, I really hope it is not as difficult to find those damn dogtags though, that whole quest was such a pain.

Just a thought. I don't really expect anything like this to happen, though I'd enjoy it.

Edit: This is a thread now, I hope that doesn't break any rule of the forums, but I felt like I'd through my thoughts at the general public on a larger scale.

And they will be everywhere in all of the gaming mediums because they'll be cheaper labor than having a full time staff of writers and industries are built around reducing cost.

I really wouldn't get my hopes up about post ending DLC. Blown expectations are the central reason why the ending hurt as much as it did. It we keep our expectations in check we might be pleasantly surprised.

Interested, especially if it's true that Sbarge was really back to studio. But NOT going to pay more than 800pts (sorry, Kaidan).

I still don't think it was ultimately Mac's fault that the endings are bad, so stop blaming him. The team ran out of time, and Casey wanted his artistic vision written by the lead writer only. I guess the other writers were left out because Casey knew they didn't like the direction of his endings. This is pretty much speculation, but i really don't think Mac would've made the endings like this, if he was the only writer and director of the game.

He's the one on the record chuckling about what a boring wasteland the universe will be after the ending. So I think I'll keep blaming him and Hudson both.

Until somebody at BioWare rats out and reveals which person was or which people were responsible for this mess, that's exactly what you should do.

If you want an example of what Mac and Casey did, before they did it. Check out the general opinion of what Rick Berman and Brannon Braga co-wrote for the finale of Star Trek Enterprise. It's a fricken travesty of an episode that in one fell swoop, implies that the writers didn't believe the cast could cut it without 2 actor's from TNG. Lowered the intellectural and action quota by...... well, not having any. At least any that made sense. One character's epic death scene was handled so hamfisted that the guy essentially died from a short circuit.

All this after Manny Coto the writer they brought onboard, Manny Coto, turned the show around and made it interesting and relevant to modern day issues explored through sci-fi mcguffin's that were actually well thought out before hand.......

What can we learn from these two examples? Don't cut the writing team you hired out of the development loop when their perspective's can help avoid obvious pitfalls.

Examples? Joker who would not abandon his commander? Or how Hackett knew Shep was on the ship? Or how Normandy was stranded and how people would feel about that? Or the question amrk of galactic devastation based on what we witnessed in The Arrival.......... I could go on but you get the point.

Anyhow. The new's that the whole writing team is involved with the next DLC is AWESOME news. All those eye's and ear's carrying different perspective's on how event's will play out will ultimately spot the types of mistakes one or two writers, alone, will tend to gloss over.

I hope the narrative development team have learnt now that they produce better stories when they work together and support each other's efforts. Because when one or two go it alone, it kinda shows.

A simple question - why was Crucible presented as it is - unknown device with an unknown function which should interface with another unknown device, with unknown interface, unknown function, unknown location, unconfirmed existence or even need of it?
My answer is - to shoehorn Catalyst's garbage, and nonsensical magical choices.
Implications... :wizard:

Good stuff. I was intrigued by the twittertalk of all the ME writers being involved in some new upcoming DLC, same with the composers - but it's the voice actors who are going to send the forum into overdrive.

Fingers crossed for Keith Szarabajka. ;-)

Definitely....more Harby can only be a good thing.

i agree with you two, more harby is always welcome

I still think it's going to turn out to be a Reaper device, for those very reasons. :alien:Might even turn out to be a Harbinger device, according to one intriguing theory that states Harbinger is trying to overthrow the Catalyst, and has been for a VERY long time!

Oh yes, and more Harby! Does anyone know how to contact his voice actor, rather than relying on random Tweets for info?

My point was - Catalyst and ending choices were created at the start of the development process of ME3. :police:

Ah, I see. Though, are we sure that the ending/RGB were created even THAT early? The Final Hours app seems to indicate that they were thought up in the last few months of the game's development.

sadly, miranda is tied up in her own quest until the very end.

well ... what about miranda joins the crew with the rest of (jack, grunt, zaeed, ... ect.), to find shepard and help him/her getting out of the rubble?

And who, pretell, would write for a bioware dlc, instead of the bioware writers?

Unless I am mistaken they don't use all of them for dlc. Also Seth green is back as in Kaiden's VA so all the squad is getting more dialouge and joker is as well so that could mean something huge
