 Will the fade be in?

I really liked the fade in DA2. Tempting party members with their desires and inner demons but please do not do something like the mages tower.

Perhaps mind screws can be implemented as well? The fade isn't a physical realm so it could be similar to the otherworld in Silent Hill where the scenery changes, distorts or just became some empty abyss.

I love the Fade. I know a LOT of people have issues with the way the Fade was done in Origins, but it was one of my favourite parts. I hope the Fade is in DA3:I and I'm sure it will be what with the focus on mages and supposedly the Veil tearing and whatnot.

Don't get me wrong, the puzzle was great. It's just repeating it again with every play through. I started to dread it after a while then stopped Origins overal because I can't be bothered to play through it again. The music really does your head.

The length was too long, DA2 was short and sweet. In origins the best parts were each companions little section.

I'm hoping for something like that but also their deepest fears along with a changing environment. Think of that darkness plane in the game 'The Darkness' a constant war between fallen ghosts, twisted monsters and if I can remember, the place does twist a little.

And of course with the veil splitting, I'm hoping bioware comes up with something creative. Perhaps the physical world leaking into the fade or perhaps vice versa. Kirkwall ending up in the fade with all its inhabitants under constant attacks from evil demons.

The music and everything being grey was why I did not like the fade in DAO. DA2s fade was too short, although the tempting companions was cool. Perhaps mish the two "fades" from DAO and DA2 together?

I'd like to see the fade handled like it is in the books.  Rather then just this random fuzzy dreamscape, the places look and feel real, if slightly off.  Often past events in the characters life are relived, or desired futures come true.  We could see our companion's as a way of getting to understand them better.  Maybe even have us enter a fade dream/nightmare without us even realizing it.

It wouldn't be so bad if the fade is like the DA2 version, but I had to download the mod to "Skip the fade" for origins. I went through tons of characters. I couldn't take it anymore! :P

l'm one of the rare group that liked the fade form DAO, as it was nice that there was a section that required something other than fighting ( or fighting as someone/thing else) to solve, it was a bit long though. DA2's fade seemed so badly crowbarred in that it was an afterthought after someone said "well the fade was in the 1st game so it MUST be in the second"

I enjoyed the heck out of the Fade the first time in DAO, and the second time was easier as I knew the tricks to get through it. Third time, not so much. In DA2, I definitely enjoyed the Fade, but felt it was much too short. I liked my companions being tempted and not being able to stop it (and the apology/argument quests that followed- Fenris blowing his top and blaming Hawke was fun). A mix of both would be great. I also like the idea of making it slightly more real with just a bit of offness to it, or a whole mind screw.

I still like the DAO fade part when I cross it on the occasional new playthrough. I don't think it really takes that long at all. For those that do not like it, there's always the 'skip the fade' mod I suppose.

The fade should definitely be in DA3, but perhaps it would be better if we went there 2 or more times during the main game, only for shorter periods at a time. It's not like the fade has to be the same every time as it's ever changing. Also supposedly, lore wise, the fade is supposed to be nearly indistinguishable from the real world to non mages, and even mages have trouble recognizing it at times (Wynne in DAO fade part). So how about a fade level where you don't even realize you're in the fade at first?

I'd like to see the fade as how spirits describe it, always changing, never maintaining its form.
as well as taking inspiration from these kind of environments.

I've mentioned it in another thread. The main issue I had with the Fade (as well as the Deep Roads) was that there was no feeling of progression as I went through it. It was just a bunch of sequential combats/minigames/puzzles with no real feeling of connection or progression between them. If they peppered it with an actual story over the course of the thing and giving me a little progression after each segment/puzzle/whatever, I'd have felt a lot more motivated to do it.

I didn't feel like they did it right in DAII, I think the should go back to the maze-like structure from DA:O and Awakening instead. Then it felt like you were lost in a dream instead of just seeing your party members fall for stupid deals.

Only if it's done correctly and we can explore the black city.

They probably don't want to do this - meaning reveal everything crucial to the lore.

I liked the puzzle-maze elements of the Fade in DAO, but it was rather long making replays kinda drag; it was great the first time though. In DAII, I liked how your companions were tempted by demons, but I think some of those interactions could have been more... convincing?

Maybe they can mash the two together somehow in DA3....

@nightcobra8928 - MC Escher is the best! I would love to see one of those types of environments that screw with your head. :wizard:

The Fade has been a bit underwhelming and kind of boring looking in the past games compared to how it is normally described. It should be overwhelming and just... completely messed up looking sometimes, and in other times ordered but always just a little off somewhere (like no roof, or no faces, or no hands, the demon/spirit actors have 12 fingers, or whatever).

I never minded the fade in DA:O. Shapeshifting is kind of fun. Though I think it would have better if you didn't have to look for all the stat boosts - they're way too valuable to ignore, but making sure you've got all of them adds considerably to the chore.

I do wish we could have had the party members join our party - and comment on each others dreams.

edit:  and the aesthetics could indeed do with a bit of work.
edit: In DA2, I felt the way everyone (except already possessed Anders) would betray you whatever you did or said took away from the potential for character development.

You'll only go in it once and it will be very interesting... the first playthrough. Every other playthrough, it will be this mission you dread having to do.
