I know so many upset over the ending, so emotional and apparently no more Shepard but what if he had a son or daughter. For the series to go forward being able to play as Shepard's offspring would be emotional but yet give people that sense of greatness again. I think writers need to realize when you have such a great character as Shepard which millions love you can't completely remove him from the series. In a lot of ways Shepard is Mass Effect to so many people. So what better way to bring back those good feeling about Mass Effect franchise is to play as Shepard's son or daughter. Bioware gets what they want by start anew and the players get what they want in still being able to continue Mass Effect as a part of Shepard. I would have put this in the Casey suggestion thread in the other forums but you can't have spoilers. :)

Nope.

Shepard may or may not romance someone over the course of the trilogy. More likely than not, the person romanced will not be producing offspring (Garrus, Tali, Miranda etc). The last possibility is that Liara clandestinely "saves a piece" during the last scene at the FOB, but Shepard can reject it.

Breeding isn't on the agenda.

Wouldn't that literally be a Shepard 2.0, something Bioware said isn't going to happen?

Then again Bioware has this thing they do where they one thing...just click the sig.

i was thinking the other day. that later in the series a descendant of Shepard was born, it should be conceived off screen, so i was wondering about DIana, or Kelly. You know how easy pregnancy accident happends in real life.

But that son of shepard was a loser at school. :P and people will say, you aren't like your father, etc.

I think writers need to realize when you have such a great character as Shepard which millions love you can't completely remove him from the series

Well, you gotta be careful about serial creep. You can't just keep making more games with Shepard indefinitely.

Bioware gets what they want by start anew and the players get what they want in still being able to continue Mass Effect as a part of Shepard.

What you are really saying is that *you* personally think that it's a good idea to have Shepard's child be the next protagonist. There is nothing wrong with that per se, but I doubt it is universal.

Do you not care more about the characters than the protagonist being Shepard's biological child? Would you be happy for ME3+ to be set in the distant future (when Synthesis/Control/Destroy have merged and become indistinguishable) if the protagonist is Shepard's biological child based created from some tissue they had frozen? I rather doubt it.

Well there is always that possibility he could have had a relationship prior to Mass Effect 1 start.

In Tutchanka, we train our children to wield the Wraith before they learn to walk. Then when of age, they learn to wield the Claymore

What if you play broshep and engage in sexy times with Kaidan?

Is an adopted Krogan an acceptable heir to the Shepard name?

My Shepard and Kaidan are adopting war orphans.

Also, can Liara even have kids yet? She isn't in the matron stage yet, and it's unclear if asari can even have kids at Liara's age. Shepard will most likely die of old age before Liara matures enough. That's just my take.

That's what headcanon is for. :)

The best part is that no one can tell you that you're wrong. It's all a matter of opinion.

I'd be totally against playing as one of Shepard's descendents.

Besides the fact that some Shepards wouldn't have children, and those that do can have either human or Asari children, creating a hero dynasty in the Mass Effect series is a very bad idea. While a hero dynasty might make sense in a fantasy series where the heroes possess magical traits or are favored in some way by the gods, it wouldn't make much sense in Mass Effect.

Why should it always fall to a single family to save a galaxy filled with trillions of people? There is plenty of room for heroes who are totally unrelated to Shepard.

Also realistically, its more likely that any children Shepard has will be everyday people who work normal jobs and don't have an impact on galactic affairs. If Shepard has a family, they should fade into obscurity.

I don't see anything wrong with that. They don't need to be superheroes to be great.

As for the video game aspect of it, mass effect is Commander Shepard. With his story ended, the series for me has ended. It's all headcanon for me from here on out. And I'm fine with that. Normal, boring, everyday life and jobs and all.
