I bought the downloadable verion since I already owned ME 2 &3 but, I was wondering if the trilogy version installed to the hard drive like ME2 or played completely off the disc like ME3.

If your version of ME-3 never installed on the Hdd, I don't know how it could "play" without doing so. Everything sold on disk from Bioware for PCs the past ten years all played in the normal manner, from the Hdd, but every time it starts, it wants to see (all over again) if you actually own a DVD disk, so during startup, the disk has to be in the drive.

I probably should have mentioned I was talking about the PS3 version that was released yesterday. Sorry for the confusion.
