Explain to me then why their are no proffesional critics who gave Mass Effect 3 a ****ty score? EA obviously payed off some but I find it incredibly hard to believe they could find and bribe every single noteworthy gaming site.

I'm sorry, it just is not possible they could pay off everyone.

That's because there's nothing professional about the reviewers. They've just managed to get a lot of attention through very positive reviews which the developers plastered on the front of the cover (seriously, have you seen the cover to Batman: Arkham City? The review scores are taking up more space than the actual title), which doesn't automatically mean that the reviewer's work involves any kind of skill.

Any schmuck can run around and yell: "10/10! GOTY! BEST GAME EVAH!"

No I agree with you, Mass Effect is in no way a 10/10 game, I'd say it's about 8/10. What I'm saying is that if the game was as bad as many claim there would have been a few critics who judged it as such. Currently there are not.

Saying that EA payed off every critic ever that was going to review ME3 is asinine.

A little video about reviewers being paid, since some of you can't use common sense.

I find it incredibly hard to believe that EA payed off 74 critics to give the game good reviews. You'd think they'd miss a few and the game would have gotten some mixed review but nope.

But seriously, grasping at straws much?

Big question is, how much are they paying you to cover their asses all the time? If they're not, you should definitely ask for some compensation for all your whiteknighting effort.

there are no "proffesional critics" :)

And they don't need to "pay off" everyone. Just make sure the larger sites play nice and chances are that the smaller will follow.

I hope you have facts to back up your assertions.

I'd say everything over 90 on that list is liable to have been paid off.

I'd say that the user reviews are more reliable than the "critic" reviews. Seeing how the majority of them more than likely have, you know, actually played through the game.

Not to mention that there are a lot more of them. Ten to one, even.

Just because you have a fancy site (which pretty much anyone can make these days) and claims to be a journalist doesn't mean that your opinion weighs more than anyone else's.

Well there are more positive user reviews then negative ones.

Not that roughly 70 people is a lot.

Also, here's one review on that list of yours which said that ME3 was "an unfitting finale for an outstanding franchise".

How can someone working for game press ends like character in game while she is still working for press ?
It´s like politician would work in as chief of police or head of justice court at same time and you can imagine what kind of power it is...

Or also as journalist you have some kind of rules which they should learn you at school something like a being objective, this claim was destroyed with Moriarty´s personal attack against gammers which felt to be cheated.

Yeah, and some of them are just petty pokes at the "haters", since they think that ME3 deserves a "real" review.

Oh yeah, that really speaks high of their opinion.

Didn't say that they were, either.

Although, I'd find some of the user reviews to be more trustworthy than the yes men's, who more than likely haven't even played through it all.

Interesting video.

I think these picutres sums up things pretty well and explains what people mean by "paid reviews".

It's not about getting money. It's about getting benefits. "paid reviews" is just a figure of speech.
Though one can understand sites like IGN. Getting a review out first on a big hyped game means lots of hits on their site. I get that it can be hard to resist for them and other sites.

Gotta love people defending EA/Bioware and completely ignoring posts like this........speaks volumes oh how the industry works, EA wont leave things to chance and i feel sorry for those that are blinded by such things.

Not for me like. Good game mechanically, story wise a bit of a trainwreck. Nowhere near as good as many other games out this year.

If someone actually gave Eterna5 enough evidence, he would still denie that EA pays off reviewers. Further more, if he did accept it, you would probably find him in a white jacket surrounded by padded walls, and rocking back and forth in the corner saying "its not true, its not true, its not true."

You still haven't shown proof that they did.

I think plenty of people have shown enough proof. You're just living in your own self-delusion.

Being a fan is not a problem. Liking a game, even if that game basically sucks (yeah, I said it, though I'm clear that it is a point of view), actually isn't a problem either.

Being blind, and thinking a critic is the problem and not the game itself, shows a level of naivety that can only be laughed at.

It is pretty obvious who falls into that last category here on the boards. If you like the game, good to you. But I hope both critics and superfans have the tiniest bit of self check in them to sometimes question their own opinions.

Oh golly gee, you mean to tell me that the tasteless, incompetent, mentally infantile subhuman pig people at IGN, who are almost more famous for taking bribes than they are for reviewing games, have decided that Mass Effect 3 might be the year's best game? After one of their favorite and least talented employees even had an actual role in the game?

Words simply cannot express my surprise.
