That, along with all the constant second guessing and questioning she does throughout the series is why people hate Ashley.

Thank you for admitting the number one reason people hate Ashley and any other character is that dares to question Shepard's actions.

Paragon kiddies don't like it when they're not constantly being assured and soothed that they're always 100% correct.

You're kidding yourself if you think Ashley only questions Paragon Sheps.

She questions Shepard's of all stripes.

That is a good thing.

Well thats a result of BW rewarding paragon choice EVERY TIME, and punishing players that don't go full paragon or renegade with restricted choices.

It all makes me wish BW had made Ashley black. Not done anything differently except give her black skin. I'm pretty sure that would have made people actually think about what she actually said without prejudging her.

Skin colour doesn't mean people can't be racist.

I'm well aware of that.  I wonder how many of the people who auto-called out Ash as a racist were.  I think most of them would have thought twice about labeling a black woman as racist.

She is racist, it's pretty clear from that comment and the constant questioning of all your alien squadmates during debriefs, especially Liara.

Examples please.  She only questions Liara because she's Benezia's daughter.  Warms up to her after Benezia's death.

That, along with all the constant second guessing and questioning she does throughout the series is why people hate Ashley.

"Thrroughout the series"  I gotta hear exzamples for this.  Aside from Horizon, which I think we can all agree was awful.

If you question Shepard you can be an absolute dick about it if it makes sense, like when Javik does it, but it almost never makes sense when Ashley does it.

Javik'sway  worse than Ashley.  People just find him funny, so it's all good.

Ashley questions you about Garrus/Wrex being allowed on the Normandy, and questions Liara's loyalty again and again, she acts like Liara is an evil manipulative **** in ME1. You already mentioned ME2. In ME3 she will not shut up about Cerberus, ever.

And Javik can question Shepard because he actually knows what he is doing, he already watched the galaxy burn once, he knows what to do in order to avoid that again

If it makes sense. If the commander tells you to shut it, you don't ignore them.

I doubt it. The world would be in a sad state if people didn't point out racism when it happens.

I recruited Liara after Benezia and, unlike the rest of the crew, she constantly second guessed Liara despite the fact I told her to stop.

For examples? Liara constantly. Horizon. ME3 all the way until she joins the Normandy.

1 She questions Garrus and Wrex having access to all the Normandy systems.  Not the same thing.  Heck this is stuff human civilians shouldn't have access to without a proper security clearance

2)  Benezia's daughter?  try talking to Ash after Noveria, she recommends you talk to her and try to comfort her 'She just lost her mom.  "She has to be hurting"

3)  Ash brings up Cerberus on three occassions on Mars.  I don't know what game you played but she never criticised my Shepard about Cerberus again afterwards.

She complained about Cerberus again at Huerta, and again in the middle of a coup.

And she is just so damn annoying about Cerberus on Mars that it feels like more

"You're not a part of Cerberus anymore.  Case closed.  Full Stop...Okay, you cut all ties.  I accept that"

I guess my problem with Ashley is that would have expected anyone from the future to have seen enough after school specials to know to treat everyone exactly the same. I mean, I get that she's more nationalist than racist (she pretty clearly has a problem with aliens because they form power blocks whose interests sometimes ran counter to the Alliance, not because they look weird), but still - do we really have to go through this whole thing every single time we meet someone else different from us? I guess I just hoped that we've all learned our lesson by now.

Also her criticisms are annoying because you turn out to be exactly right in the end, which makes her look stupid. And because she questions you with so much more vitriol than Kaidan, she ends up looking all the worse.

My experiences with Ashley and religion can be summed up by this: "Yeah, I believe in God. How about you? No? That's cool." Can't imagine what people are up in arms about there.

But I do find it hilarious that if she dies she gets badly misquoted and posthumously regarded as exactly the kind of person fans wish she was.

Why did she question Shepard after 28 seconds? Does she not know how chain of command works?

Pretty much this sums up why people hate Ashley. It captures the character of her completely.

So, because somebody tells you to stop questioning them, you should automatically do so even if they haven't done a single thing to change what made you question them in the first place?

Politicians must love you.

If your military commander tells you to stop something you continue doing that thing? Is that how the military works?

Because she's not sure how to approach a potentially touchy topic?  Just a thought.

Did you not see the video I posted where Ash shoots Udina herself?  That' pretty much sums up why I like Ash.

Nonsense. First, the line was a bug. Secondly, Ashley's concerns about the alien squadmates were commonsense, not racism.

Believe it or not, if your commander issues what you believe to be an unsound or illegal order, you are, in fact, supposed to question them.

I can't help but suspect that the main reason you don't like her is because she doesn't like Liara, and you're attempting to justify it through other means.

She questions him despite him being in charge, after he answered her question.

Even then that video I linked shows she talks about Cerberus long after Mars, despite you saying just a few posts previously that she doesn't do that.

She's Bioware's most "real" character. In the real world people are suspicious of others and disparage those not like them.
