Banners mean nothing. And solo 2 golds is easy for missile glitchers *spits*

Banners are like flame decals on a truck. Pointless trash that posers think makes them look cool. Yeah what? I said it.;)

You can't host and Missile Glitch.  Don't know why, but you can't.  I get what you're saying though...

I don't understand this. I've played around 5 or 6 games since the challenge thing started with players who have the BotB banner. Not one of them were great players. This is on PC. They actually just seemed like the average, run-of-the-mill PUG. How can this be? I always hear N7 rank, scores, banners, etc. don't mean anything, but looking at what you need to get that banner, mediocre players shouldn't be able to do it. At least not in the time between inception of the challenge system and now. Mind boggling.

If you were playing on a higher difficulty, perhaps your teammates just recently completed their BotB banners by grinding bronze. :)

It's a shame people do it that way, but I've read a few threads on here about people saying it's so easy to get the BotB banner by just grinding. Really? Then why not challenge yourself to obtain the banner by playing on higher difficulties? Oh well. The proof is in the play, as the saying goes. :)

What I don't understand is the nihilistic view about the banners....seriously, why knock achievement? If someone is sporting the banner proudly, they set the goal and did what they needed to achieve it (assuming they did it on thier own). Bottom line for me is, in order to get this banner, you have to solo 2 gold matches. There is no way of convincing me that a player does not have skill if they have done this, I don't care what kit you use, what consumables, what gear or how OP'd your weapons are. If you have Lone Wolf or BotB, you have my respect for the achievement....why people want to tear down or cheapen achievement is beyond the way I think. Kudos to those who have it! I know a few who have these banners and they are good teammates and very skilled....

Primary skill at this game is ability to sustain play. All rewards are based on this. Proficiency at high difficulty levels is only a secondary contributor, in the form of efficiency.

There are many people here who jump on the bandwagon trash talking something because they want to seem cool just because others do it....EVERYDAY. These whining, elitist, Haterade drinking people are so damn annoying. Makes me wonder if anything IRL ever gives them happiness.

I know what it takes to get that banner as well. You'll never see me hating on whoever has it.

Banners and N7 Rating dont mean anything. The Missile Glitch took all legitness away from both. Players can "Missile Glitch" platinum, or 2 golds and get lone wolf.  This game will never be legit until the Glitches are gone......and I dont see that happening anytime soon

You still need to play at least two solo games on gold. You also need to play at least 100 waves on gold on most maps for Map Mastery. All in all, I'd say some skill is involved.

Some great players may not bother to do challenges at all, though.

That can be bypassed by gold leechers, or you know, missile glitchers on platinum. So map mastery doesn't really take skill. After they fixed the issues with the solo mastery though, that one does take skill.

Someone has banner envy and felt the need to make themselves feel better by bashing a banner they don't have. I have it do I always top the boards no. It depends on what map what character I have what faction lag or maybe some players are better at rushing spawns than me. I am sick of threads like this one. Grow up people and stop stroking your egos on the boards. So what you outscored someone who had the BOTB or twice your n7 or whatever. Would you like some milk with your cookie?

Hit me up for a game OP. My Origin ID is stew675. Tell ya what, to make it fair, I'll host one game and you host the other.

Edit: The above is not meant to imply that I think that I'm the best player going around.  I'm not, not by a long shot.  I do know where I generally finish though, either when hosting, with friends, or in pugs, and I'm fairly confident that there's very few people who would label me as undeserving of achieving the banner, unless they're being outright trolls.

Score doesn't matter, and lag is the great equalizer, and punisher. So I wouldn't harp on any of the best of the best. They obviously played enough. I know 3 personally now. Hosting they are all beasts, non hosting things change. Folks also have hot and cold spells, and experiment. Not everyone can be super dominant in every class. But when a best of the best suits up with their favorite classes matches seem to become so much easier.

21 out of 25 challenges, getting closer to my own.

Many challenges are very time consuming. I saw people with well over 1K hours invested in the MP mode of this game...Playing instead of working?

I have / use the BoB banner and its somewhat of a curse... I'm not allowed to experiment builds or I'll see more threads like these.

Lets face it, if you experiment with a new build and it turns out as crap, you aren't going to be performing very well.

Must be nice to have that much free time on their hands, huh?

Everyone can get more free time by replacing sleep with a mix of coffee, 5 hour energies, and rockstar.

EDIT: And yeah, to the OP, I've only ended up in a PUG with one BotB, and he was good.

Being that I just got the BotB banner. I can say that yes, it's a grind. Tried joining a gold match on Ghost, nothing. Tried hosting a gold match on ghost, again nothing. So I soloed it and of course, what do I get, Collectors. Even clutching is a tedious thing for me. Needing Drellguard waves as well was a gift in itself. I got it, but died immediately at the start of the next wave. Next time I dare face Collectors by myself, I am bringing an Acolyte and/or not even touching the Drellguard. At least until I get better with him.

Uh...no. You may not feel tired but the reflexes or thinking isn't quite there. Sorry, everytime I cut my nights for whatever reason I can feel the difference at work, no matter the amount of caffeine in my blood. I can also see the difference when my my own staff does so.

I'd better have player with the Lone Wolf or BoB banner in the lobby. It means soloing at least gold, 25 plat extractions and playing all maps during Nomad. Albeit one BoB I met was pretty average.

You know, I would love to have hats. I can only imagine my Batarian with a stylish fedora or bowler. Or Krogan with top hats.

Those platinum extractions are not required; they can be compensated by doing weekend challenges. I have the Best of the Best banner and have not played platinum since Retaliation was released.

as mentioned here, you basically need a lot of free time and mediocre skill, to get BotB banner. nothing more.

also there are people who share their account with their brothers or sisters =D. for instance my account is played by me (24) and my two brothers (11 and 15). Their is obviously a difference in skill between us. I'm good enough for platin, the 11 year old is good enough for gold and the 15 year old is good enough for silver =D so if you would see our gamertag in silver, you see a high n7 rank character who can be pretty average, if for example the 15 year old plays, or who basically becames first in score (which means nothing i know =D) nearly all the time, if I play.

They are the best of the best. Now you have to ask yourself the question what the best in this context is? And it is simply the best at getting all the requirements for that banner. It is a lame name for the banner though. They could have come up with something much more interesting without having people thinking it as being snooty,
