So nobody is going to point out James' 12-pack abs or his car sized arms? How about Jacob, who's chest is higher-rez than his face? Or Thane, who was literally made to be a love interest? What about Steve, Kaidan, and MShep, the latter of which is literally a male model.

Like earlier, is it somehow less sexist when it's the men who are objectified? Why do only 2 other people in this thread even acknowledge the point and the hypocrisy surrounding the sexualizatiom of the genders? Everyone seems to be crying foul over Miranda's heels and suit, but James' Michelangelo chest gets a free pass?

I agree with you, but that's not the point of the thread

I know that, but there are still people (in this thread) declaring Bioware to be as sexist as General Custer. The claim is hypocritical (not to mention ****** weak and ironic) without tackling both sides of the argument. Nevermind that this thread has been all over the place. My post is hardly out of the ordinary.

Oh and in regards to Thane's 'boobage' here is the part in the Shadow Broker Dossiers "...Thane should continue to wear loose clothing that leaves his chest uncovered to prevent moisture buildup that could worsen the problem. "
He, at least, has an excuse. And where does it say his sole purpose was to be a LI?

With James and the rest of the men, they wear amour when appropriate (Barring Jacob but he's a cheating skank anyway)

True, James looks stupid, the rest of the males body types fit the fact they having to wear heavy armour and use heavy weaponry; of course they would have muscle tone. Frankly I hate the way Femshep is stupidly skinny.

Also, Steve, Kaiden and Sheploo all have the same body 'cause Bioware couldn't be bothered changing models in the topless scenes. :I

Hmph. Well go Bioware; so his sole purpose was to be an LI but they sure gave him a craptastic conclusion in ME3.

Funny how that works out.  Sole purpose as an LI, then horrible conclusion.  What went wrong!  Did he have the same writer?

I'm assuming a lot of the writing fails were because of inconsistency from game to game?

That's why I don't care about Miranda, Samara, et al being "sexy."  My gripe is that Ashley got a "makeover," which implied that ME1 Ashley both a) wasn't sexy enough and B) that was clearly a problem, so she had to be given a new haircut, heels, a catsuit, and lip gloss.  And while we get to see EDI's cameltoe, I can promise you that there is no corresponding boner bulge we get to check out on any of the male characters.  I don't care about fanservice at all.  I do care when Bioware seems to regress over the course of 3 games and "fix" female characters who didn't need fixing because oh noes, she wasn't "sexy" enough!

I agree with you in regards to Ashley. That was just retarded. At least EDI's cameltoe is only visible through her suits. Kinda funny, with EDI you get to choose between naked and awkward exposure.

None of those characters save Thane walk around with a lot of exposed skin or impractical battle outfits.

You'll notice that nobody's been complaining about Tali or Kasumi either, for the same reason.

I was fairly angry when everyone acted like Thane didn't exist after all and no one bothered to ask my Femshep if she missed him; hell she nearly got identical lines on the deathbed scene.

Well, I know a few writers left from ME1-2 from ME3. Not too sure about Thane's writer, I'll need to look that up...(But Legion's writer switched, which really shows lmao)

It doesn't bother me that they are hypocrites, it bothers me the way they discuss the topic while cleverly ignoring the other half of the argument. That's literally the first thing you learn when debating somebody, is to present your argument logically and intelligently.

It is though. A lot of people seem to be intent on thinking that BioWare are sexist towards women based on the design of some of the female characters. The OP specificially asked whether female gamers felt that BioWare was catering more to the male players by putting the female crew in sexy clothing. But the male crew were in revealing clothing also.. The female audience was definitely considered.

Point is, all the crew are attractive. Maybe even unrealistically so.  But there are no double standards in this series. BioWare did not just consider male gamers.

He, at least, has an excuse.

That's some shallow justification for why he wears the clothes he does. I don't care though.

But he has an ingame excuse though...True, I don't approve of it while in space, but an assassin wearing bulky clothes wouldn't sense. You can't say he's as bad as Samara as some people are trying to fob off.

My point is that female soldies in video games do not have to have their breats prominently displayed.  It is a diservice to the characters and fans.  Halo just does it better than ME

If all the women suddenly wore flat-chested armor, then you'd have people here complaining why the women don't have breasts. Either way, doesn't matter. As I said, keep each game to their own specific style. I don't want Halo armors in ME and I don't want ME armors in Halo.

Doesn't need to be bulky. Just gotta cover his chest.

Samara is worse than any and every case being discussed here. Except EDI's cameltoe.

I know it's an in-game excuse. It's still shallow. "We have a medical reason for why he wears clothing of this particular style so it's okay".

I thought ME 1 was pretty solid, marines wore shipboard uniforms and armor when they had to go on missions. Irregardless of specialization, everyone in the squad went out properly equipped,
ready to deal with gunfire, environmental hazards, etc, even though said Alliance seemed more of a ghost than a robust military force. It's at least a convincing futuristic picture. Most of the
women depicted had, I would say, the normal body ratio. But in ME 2 - 3, most of that went out the airlock, undercutting the foundation of credibility established in the first game. A pity.
