 Hey,
Is there any chance of Mass Effect 1 getting a solo disc release on PS3? I'm a day 1 buyer of Mass Effect 2 and 3 and have a poor Internet connection so a 10GB download isn't a great option.
Thanks

Well it is only 7gb so it is 30% less than what you are expecting. In a few months maybe the entire trilogy set will be at affordable price if you are just needing the one disc

yeah i think the mass 1 will be available as a stand alone game disc , here is why i think this ,,, every xbox mass effect fan said we will never get to play it ,,well here we are releast for ps3 , so after the novelty of thr trilogy has run dry i think maybe a release of mass 1 on disc to liven it up once more

I 2nd that motion. Release Mass Effect 1 as a single disc release. It's the only decent thing to do for gamers who have been stuffed around too much. Download data is money too...so, you're paying for that over and above the mere cost price on PSN of the ME1 download.

The business model of Bioware or EA or whoever in this case seems to be:

1) Tell PS3 owners that ME1 won't come out. So they buy ME2.
2) Get them to buy ME3.
3) Release a trilogy pack...you've gotten their money twice, get it three times...and here's the beauty of the strategy...people who like discs will be paying for games they already own!
4) Once you have stung games twice over with games they already own then release a single disc only version of ME1.
5) The only winners from this are people who didn't get screwed by Bioware or EA or whoever in buying ME2 first. They can pick up bargains...buy each entry in the trilogy for a bargain price. Everyone who bought in at ME2 has been screwed by Bioware or EA or whoever (not just for paying for stuff that they already own, but also for having to replay the sequels in order for the gimmick of the series to work, i.e. your choices carrying over into the sequels)...those who like owning discs and for whom downloading the game would cost a whole lot more than the mere sale price of the game...download data counted.

Solution just buy the PSN version I hate download only games but their isn't much I can do about it. I don't think EA would release a stand alone Disc for ME1 on PS3. I hope they do it but I'm not waiting around for them to do it. It may not make financial sense to do if they're not gonna make a profit on it then I doubt they'd do it. But hey hopefully I'm wrong and you guy's are right.

pogo4485 is correct, ME1 on PSN is listed as 10.5 GB. The ME1 installation was ridiculously slow too. I think it took almost a full hour. This is my first digital purchase for PS3 though so I'm not implying that this is a ME only issue. Maybe it's a PS3 issue. I don't recall any GOG PC games, even the Witcher 2, taking so long to install. I could be wrong though.

It is disappointing that there is no standalone disc release. Broadband connections are really lousy in some parts of the world.

I don't even have a credit card, and I can't find PSN cards (the ones with a predetermined amount of money in them, which you can buy at game stores) anywhere. Thus, I'm stuck with the the second and third ones, but with no means of getting the first one. If it comes out, I hope it'll be soon.
