AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

$40 for only 15 hours of gameplay? I got the deluxe edition off of impulse for about $10ish more when I applied a coupon I had.

If you put it to say like, $15 I'll buy it. $40 is just obscene.

Yea the price does seem kind of outrageous especailly when you consider hours of gameplay are usually over exaggerated by the developers.

I just looked at it on GameStop and apparently the PC version is $30 which is a *little* more reasonable. I'll probably wait until it's $20 or less before I pick it up.

Let's wait and see what the actual price and the actual play time look like. Especially the latter may vary greatly from what's been proposed thus far. If a game has real replayability, you can spend much more time with it than the time needed to complete the main story once.

That said, DA (which I bought on release day) unfortunately hasn't impressed me that much that I'd pay 40 bucks for 15 hours of the same. It'd have to be much improved, or I'd wait until the price had been reduced.

Definitely overpriced. Then again, sheeps, i mean people are paying $5 for only half an hour to an hour long dlc. They'll buy it simply because it has the word 'expansion' on it. I recall an article that was posted not long after the release which reported $1 million in dlc sales...Bioware/EA isn't stupid, if they can make $1 million from overpriced DLC, they'll more even more from overpriced expansion packs.

I think the only way I'll be getting it (or any dlc) is when they release a GOTY version.

Considering how so many said the first posts about this[up to a mont hago], were most likely fake..you should feel a little justified its not, whatever the damn price.

It's worth what people are willing to pay. For me, who loved DA:O, I have no problems paying $40. Hell when you look at how much a 2 hour movie costs these days, $40 for 15 hours is a good deal.

Obviously it's not enough for Bioware that I don't mind. They need volume so it is in their best interest to find a price point that will appeal to enough of the masses.

It looks bad right now...Shivering Isles was about $35, if I remember right. The Ballad of Gay Tony and Lost and the Damned were $20 each. Broken Steel and Point Lookout were 10 bucks a pop.

But we have almost no hard info yet. The price may be wrong, the "15 hours" might be off, who knows? Wait and see, wait and see...

I consider that 'hard info' since it is official after all. It's priced at $39.99

You guys do realize that the average game is only 15 hours and costs at least $20 more than this expansion...right?

I mean this is basically getting a brand spanking new game for $20 less.

I'm the consumer who isn't willing to pay $60 for a game unless it has "stuff" with it that's extra.

$50 is usually my high point, where most of the games I like I'll wait until the game has been out for a year and they're released on steam weekend deals or something for 50% off.

$30 for the pc version is much better, as thats the version I own, however, that's still asking too much.

A typical play of dragon age is about 30-40 hours. A complete playthrough of the game including over 75% of the sidequests (which I have) is clocked in at about 75 hours at the alienage. That's with me leaving the game open while I walk away to get something to eat or get up to have conversations with my roommates or help around the house or whatever.

Generally speaking, most people would finish the game before then. Dragon age: Origins was lauded at what? 120 hours of content? No. If I wasn't ****ing around like I said I was above, I'd probably be done with the game at 70 hours max.

I don't agree, or buy into that pricing model.

I simply don't buy games that are short unless they:
1. are cheap
2. have some other thing going for them

Or if I do, I wait till it's like $10 in the discount bin

What average game are you talking about? Maybe you mean average in quality. I have many good games for the 360 and they provide much more than 15 hours of gameplay.

The length of the average video game story mode or campaign is about 10-15 hours. That obviously doesn't include replaying the game or multiplayer as I've sunk way more than 15 hours into many games. And I doubt BioWare is including that either. What they are saying is it is a new 15 hour campaign. But when you factor in playing with different characters it amounts to much more time.

Exactly.

Now the big question is...who is the Cameo character...Zev, Lelina or even Morrigan perhaps...

Were lucky to be getting an expansion at all. It actually seems really early to get an expansion because the game has been out for only a few months. Well if it turns out that awakening is not worth the $40 at launch then just wait until the price drops or dont buy it at all. I think $30 is a fair deal for an expansion. Its not about justifying the cost of the game with made up comparisons and facts. Just decide if its worth it to you and the economics will speak for you.

That's the smartest thing anyone has written so far.

Game prices haven't gone up in what, 20 years?

Forget inflation, what do you think production costs have done in that time?
