How could I have missed this. After the patch fire and cryo explosions work just like biotics right??

I've always had a deep hatred for Carnage, but when you use it on the Vorcha Soldier, it is amazing....and here's how:

6-6-6-5-3
Bloodlust is a given
Flamer take 4b (choose to extend it out to 15 meters) 5a (damage) 6a (armor damage)
Carnage take 4a (Radius) 5a (cause knock downs like CS) 6 you can take your pick. I picked Damage.

I choose to take the collector SMG with ULM and estended mags. This gives me 200% cooldown and It times out great between power usage. With this setup Carnage takes just a hair over 3 seconds to cooldown.

Now just flamer enemies just for a blink to set them on fire, shoot until cooldown, launch Carnage for fire explosions. I can't say for possitive, but I think I saw where I had 2 enemies on fire and my Carnage trigged a fire explosion on both of them.

I'm sure this was a no brainer for most of you, but if you are like me and hate Carnage, maybe you didn't think about this combo before. Maybe you might just start to like Carnage now.

Give it a try.

Flamer+cluster grenade=no waiting for cooldowns and more AoE damage.

I actually re-specced my Vorcha Soldier to max Carnage, and it's very decent. Then again, I use a Talon X, so my cooldowns are pretty fast, what with the Bloodlust crazy 60% penalty to them and stuff. Before, I was just using a slightly more resistant, Cluster-less Vorcha Sentinel, but now my 6/6/6/4/4 build gives me something different and it's quite fun.

I also use Carnage on the BF3 Soldier and he rocks. He looks ugly, but his powerset is no joke. I have a newfound love for Carnage, to say the least.

Flamer's cooldown is like Tactical Cloak. The cooldown's shorter if you only use Flamer for a few moments, and increases the longer you have the Flamer running.

This means the Vorcha Sentinel has more flexibility. You can do a quick Flamer and then toss your grenades, like the Soldier does with Flamer and Carnage. Or you can have the Flamer running full out, and then throw your grenades only at the tail end of your flaming. The Sentinel has options. Soldier doesn't.

Because the Sentinel's only cooldown is Flamer, you can also carry heavier weapons on the Sentinel, while still doing Flamer + Grenade = Fire Explosion.

A Soldier making use of Flamer + Carnage for explosions probably needs to carry somewhat lighter weapons, otherwise the cooldown on Carnage might suck.

Don't get me wrong, the sentinel out performs the soldier because the Sentinel can carry heavy weapons and not really have to care about cooldown, but with the challenge system in place, the flamer/carnage V-soldier isn't a painful 200 wave grind. Having this combo finally sink in has changed the way I play my V-Soldier. It use to be 6-6-0-6-6 leaving carnage out and using the heaviest weapons I can find. After about 6 games of aim-shoot it gets a bit boring. I think it's a lot more fun to find a fresh spawn and flame them all then drop a carnage on them.

BUT as all of you have mentioned, the V-Sentinel is much more efficient than the V-Soldier.

The only real benefit Solider has over Sentinel is that Soliders don't need to keep searching around for grenades to set off explosions. IMO, that puts vorcha soldiers ahead of sentinels. If they had unlimited grenades it'd be a different story.

Sentinel is the better option like everyone has stated. If you've found a new love for carnage and fire explosion fun might I suggest the Krogan Solider.

Yup...The Vorcha Soldier is just a beast and so is the Sentinel. Thus the reason I did a Platinum Solo with the Vorcha Soldier. Someone should do one with the Sentinel. They are both just so good.Squishy against Primes, Atlases and Geth but still really good and Carnage does give you some range for those types of enemies anyways.

I've specced my Soldier out of Flamer. He rocks.
