Will IT believers throw in the towel on the final DLC or when ME4 is released?

Please don't misconstrue this as an attack on IT, or IT believers.

While I like the themes of the literal ending (it is under explained or tied up, however).

I also like IT.

As IT is interpretive if or until the holy grail of post-ending DLC is released, at what point wil ITers give up on hope?

Will it only be when ME4 canonizes or refers to the ME3 finale in a way that solidifies it?

Unlikely. If a sequel, they'll insist ME4 is all a hallucination too, and that ME5 will be the reveal.

if mass effect 4 is a prequel, then IT should still be a valid interpretation of the endings. if mass effect 4 is not a prequel, well, we'll see what happens.

Popular opinion goes for a sequel. But I prefer the idea of a prequel.

Why is this a bad thing? :) I'm sorry but if they choose to have this as a headcanon, so be it. My headcanon involves me living on rannochs beach with Tali. With a spare room for Grunt as the poor kid just can't live on his own without some guidance. I love IT, and although im not that fanatic about it as i used to be, ill support anything that makes them feel better about the horrible endings that were given in me3.

No, I don't think they ever will. More power to them, they can believe whatever they want.

ME6 will no doubt confirm it.

I still like IT, but I threw in the towel after the EC. If there was going to be a reveal, not having revealed it then would have been far too long.

The only possible reveal I can think of now would be the start of ME4 having Shepard indoctrinated, and quite possibly an antagonist.

No because ME6 is the Return of Harbinger!

Personal feelings aside(I think the IT is dumb), I don't think they will throw in the towel. They're the really hardcore ending haters. They will never accept any ending Bioware has put out.

I don't think I ever will. I think Mass Effect was written in such a way as to invite speculation and leave many things open to the interpretation of players who have the necessary faculties. This compliments the fact that in the end, the game is to an extent our own story. I hope that many of the questions regarding indoctrination and some of the other loose ends are clarified in DLC. I think they will have to be for a sequel to work. Meanwhile, non-literalistic interprestations of the ending are the only way to make sense of what we have now, whilst leaving things open to debate and interpretation and remaining well within the bounds of the Mass Effect lore.

Edit: @KingZayd, I think shep coming back as an indoctrinated pawn of the reapers (or even Leviathins somehow?) would be a great hook in to ME4. Not that mine will ;)

Speaking only for myself, if this is the last DLC (and 5 feels like the correct number for a mass effect game) and it does nothing to repair the priority earth mission or truly give ME the finale it deserves....welp...I can say I will be a sad volus. As such I will abandon my pursuit of lemons for ME3 and go into exile.

Nope, they'll find a way to interpret ME4's story as further evidence/validation of IT. Even if it isn't.

I'm still pretty shocked how large of a following IT has even after the EC released.

Except ITers are not ending haters, they are pro-enders. They think that ME3 have most genius ending of a decade.
Look into their thread, if you don't believe me.
Real ME3 haters already left, or staying for lulz, like me

I'm not. The interpretation side of IT, not the "DLC payoff" side.

My view on IT:

If it's not true, then Bioware are idiots for making the endings as they were.

If it is true, they're still idiots for waiting this long to reveal the truth (and thinking that something like this would actually work.)

I am pretty sure that I can name a few IT'ers that - without IT or no IT reveal - would go the way of Clevernoob.

Which way is that?
Well, judging from context, maybe my generalization was too broad, but i haven't seen any ITers who hate ending, and not praising it as genius writing.
Maybe you'll show me someone? :police:

Speaking only for myself; yes, for the most part. Bioware has yet to produce an ending I can accept (with the partial exception of the beginning of Refuse), and from everything I've seen that's unlikely to change. And yes, I'm unlikely to throw in the towel anytime soon. I've no interest in playing in the ME universe anymore. Which means that I won't be encountering any future games or DLCs to contradict my personal headcanon (which does use IT, among other things.)
