Why does Kaidan get a free pass for not trusting Shepard, but Ashley doesn't?

In fact... Kaiden suddenly being open to homosexual encounters was stupid and pure fan catering. He had a WOMAN he was in love with years ago. Men don't suddenly realize they're gay at middle age.

I see you don't know how sexuality works. Let me explain it to you. You can still love a woman and still be into men. I know, shocking right?]

Also it's KaidAn. He's not a good kid either.

He was romantically in love with her smartass, as I said earlier, Im a single father of two. Didn't mention my psych. background, my bad. Allow ME to explain a bit clearer... a heterosexual male who has previously been involved with women, does not "turn" gay. He may have been hiding it and lying to himself sure... but that's headcanon, and doesn't apply to my thoughts of the game. I go with what they showed and told me, not what I made up to make myself happier.

They where never a couple. Listen to his story. He had strong feelings for her, that does not make him straight. You assumed he was straight, it turns out he was not. Don't blame Bioware because you assumed wrong.

I really don't appreciate it from him either.

He's calmer about it, though. A little more professional. Ash makes it more personal.

That's it. And Kaidan comes around in a very good way after the Gellix mission. You notice he's done some hard thinking and was fighting with his preconceptions.

I wish I could leave them both on Virmire. Not even joking. The hard part of ME1 is deciding which one I hate the least. I usually save ashley so I can bang her on the way to Ilos. Then I kill her in ME3.

Shot her with bullets from both guns ;)

Kaidan Alenko eats a bomb on Virmire for me...
He goes out like a boss, though...

Ashley was more contentious, and Kaidan just wasn't that interesting...
To make him stand out a little more in Mass Effect 1, I gave him yellow armor and he's the only character who always has his helmet set to "on"...

When he dies, I'm like "Bumblebee!!! Noooo!!!"

I think it;s because (I feel) Ashley seems to continually question Shep and then is begrudging even though (paragon) shep has told her why he did it and the results speak for themselves...plus she was massivly against aliens in ME1 so is slightly hypocritical...

Kaiden on the other hand seems to come around a lot quicker and never had the whole alines mistrust thing (despite what happened to him at biotic school) so that;s why I took him through.

Plus Ash is a soldier and that's the class I play, making her a bit redundent in ME3 when youlve got Vega, although if I played another class then perhaps I'd bring her through.

It's always Ashley that gets scoffed at for this, but what about Kaidan? He questions you on Horizon and throughout the first half of ME3 as well.

It pains me to say this but Kaidan bends over more gracefully. (And NO pun intended.)

Gamers don't appreciate being criticized for decisions their avatar made without their input (though they also don't like being criticized by NPCs in general).

Well, Kaidan doesn't wish that the Reapers would take Shepard to hell for one.

wanna know the REAL reason so many are annoyed by Ashley talking back to them but not Kaidan?

Because Ashley's a woman. "HOW DARE THAT **** NOT TRUST ME!"

Not it's because she acts like a complete moron and is out of character. Also what JBPBRC said.

I hope you're not being serious.

That's also a reason why some people hate her. Because she is "woman-not-in-the-kitchen". Even if hater says it's not, it is.

:mellow:Seems legit.

Ashley is a who yells at you woman, which gets guys upset, Kaidan is an old woman who yells at you, so people just rolls there eyes and move on.:P

I was serious about my earlier post though, the vast majority of players are male, and being yelled at/mistrusted by a woman cuts deeper then hearing that from another guy

It's because we love kaidan

But really Ashley is just so imature she acts as though shepards owes her somthing, and shes more hurt over the fact that you were with cerby then the fact that shepard was dead for two years, at least thats the impression I got.

Kaidan dose go off on a temper tantrum but, he handles it in a better way, his comments on Mars were slightly heartbreaking because if you romanced kaidan, you can see how conflicted he is with his feelings, is shepard real, is shepard still with cerby is she still the woman he loved and so forth.

AAshley just likes to throw her voice around, maybe she acts like this because she has a trust Issue idk, but thats my two cents

I dunno, the panicking Elcor diplomat concerned about Reapers on his planet is a close contender. The "Reaper presence" had to be like...one husk or something. A husk that was promptly flattened by the Normandy's investigating probe, thus saving the day.

I'm sure they are not.

The intro has a Crowning Moment of Dumb.
Defense Committee : *is confused and overwhelmed* HALP! We are confused and overwhelmed!
Shepard: This is not the time for strategy or tactics.

Udina springs to mind as one of the biggest morons. TIM, too. Kai Leng. Thane has his moment when he throws himself at Kai Leng's sword while Shepard is very helpfully staring at the wall. There are just so many.

Oh my god don't remind me of the intro. "It's not about strategy or tactics", best advice ever if you ask me... it's not like a strategy on how to evacuate the population of Earth would be usefull, or a tactic on how to avoide total annihilation would be a good place to start.

How about "we have to get all our military forces and officers off this planet or we're all ending up as reaper goo"

Hey now, don't underestimate the Elcor. It was two husks though the other fell over and suffered a massive case of death.

Let's throw the Reapers in there as well. Also Wrex/Wreav, for insisting that a genophage cure be made immediately. Fortunately Mordin is a genius among geniuses, and if he's dead, well the Salarians have another guy who's almost as good. How lucky for the Krogan. And then there's all the ME2 squadmates who don't have good enough excuses to NOT join Shepard. Hell, damn near everyone is just tossing the idiot ball around at breakneck speed it seems.

Gets a pass from whom? The firs time he started his b****y spiel on Mars, I wanted to smack him, and I booted him and his oversized pecs off the Normandy the first time I got the chance. What an annoying character, not that Ashley is much better in 3, mind you.
