It's a good thing Ash is more upfront about it. If she was all nicey nice like Kaiden, then both VS would be a little bit too similar. They already share enough of the same dialogue in certain scenes.

I think that anti-human racists are in the minority though, especially since the player base of the game is 100% human.  The fact that she's a female sidekick that actually has beliefs and opinions of her own (both political and spiritual) is a much more likely to attract the hate.

I liked ashley, but there was no room for her on the normandy. I just prefered the characters who stayed loyal throughout the entire series. Ashley was loyal to the alliance, and that is where she belonged. It's sadly ironic that she died trying to protect a cerberus toady.

If it weren't for Garrus, she would have killed shepard.
