Honestly, I have no idea what the newly sort-of-announced DLC for ME3 will be, but I know the one aspect of ME fiction I'm desperate to see is something that finally gets us to the planet Klencory.
Klencory, for those who don't know, was introduced all the way back in ME 1 as a text-only planet you could visit. The narrative surrounding it read:
"Klencory is famously claimed by the eccentric volus billionaire Kumun Shol. He claims that a vision of a higher being told him to seek on Klencory the 'lost cyrpts of being of light.' These entities were supposedly created at the dawn of time to protect organic life from synthetic 'machine devils'. Shol has been excavating on Klencory's toxic surface for two decades, at great expense. No government has valued the world enough to evict his small army of mercenaries."
During the long years between ME1's release and the release of ME3, I was always certain that Klencory would factor into the ending of the trilogy. And while I realize the planet is basically written off in ME3, I find it very difficult to believe Bioware's writers would quite literally tease the ending of their trilogy right from the start, and never actually see this little easter egg into fruition.
So here's my pitch, to any and all who would like to hear:
"Taking place after the fall of Thessia, Liara learns from some of her agents that Reaper forces have suddenly rushed forces to the planet Klencory. Educating herself of Klencory's and Kumun Shol's story, Liara reports her findings to Shepard, who in turn informs Admiral Hackett of the situation.
Now placed in charge of Task Force [Some Cool Name], a small but elite fighting force made of special operators from around the galaxy (I, for one, would love to see some Alliance Corsairs make an appearance), Shepard and his crew race against a Reaper onslaught to find Kumun Shol, and uncover the secret crypts which could hold the key to the very survival of all organic life."
To extrapolate further, the idea behind the task force is twofold: One it creates some new characters who could interact with Shepard's squad through the DLC, thus eliminating the need for too mcuh variable crew dialogue. Second, it could create a microcosm of the ME universe, allowing us the chance to see the forces we've brought together without having to rewrite the entire ending of the game. Instead of a whole Krogan regiment, we only see two or three Krogan commandos doing their thing. The size of the task force doesn't so much matter as the depth of its representation.
Also, the ending of this DLC could also add some kind of key we have to deliver to the Crucible, which would only be implemented once Shepard has arrived at the star child scene. Again, this would allow for additions to the ending of the game, without the need for rewriting the entire level.
Whatever this new DLC is, all I know is I'm happy to see more ME3 content coming our way.
