A question for us PS3 ME1 players (at long last)...

So who else is starting all over again with a "canon Shepard" to replay our fav series all over again? Thank you Bioware for not abandoning us PS3 fans . it's strange but totally enjoyable to play Shepard as XO and seeing his/her beginnings and seeing how all our fav characters came together.

Its wonderful to finally have the opportunity to play ME1 ->ME2 -> ME3 on a single shep on my favorite system. I'm doing that first with the adept class which I have never played in any SP game.
I've always chose the engineer for each starting run as he is definitely my canon shep. I will most definitely be doing a "ultimate insanity trilogy playthrough" with him when they are finally done with ALL ME3 DLC for the best experience.

I'm so happy Bioware finally released ME1 on PS3 that I bought the whole trilogy through PSN (no more switching discs every time I want to play some ME3MP). ME1 was too cheap anyway.

I've played through it twice on the PC, once as a paragon male shep soldier, and now I'm finishing my second playthrough of the series as a renegade femshep vanguard. I thought I was done, but Bioware's move to put ME1 on PS3 means that yes, I'm going to play them a third time. This time as a male infiltrator taking a more neutral tack. Maybe this Shepard will seek to Control the reapers. We'll see.
It's amazing playing it on a real TV with real sound and a controller. Absolutely loving it. Except for the mini-games, which somehow I can't figure out how to do on the PS3.

GAH! Why didn't I think of that?
That might just have been worth it, if for nothing than to preserve the golden state of my laziness.

Just curious, how long did it take to download ? the 7.1 gb for ME1 felt like forever ( well, not as bad as the wait just to finally GET the game ) . damn Bioware making me spoiled by the updated engines for ME2 and ME3. not used to the cooldown times on my biotic Femshep. I feel like I'm playing DA:O (while I love better than DA2 btw)

Has anyone positively confirmed that things like Conrad Verner are present in ME2 and 3?

I've now created a new Shepard who will hopefully now become my 'canon', I was always an Infiltrator before, but now I can finally realise my Shep as a Vanguard dream. I'm really excited to finally begin the adventure from the start. The only issue I'm having, is at the moment I'm finding it a bit weird when he speaks and it's not my old Shepard's face.
Also I kind of like my Shephard to be a paragon and succeed at the 'good' paragon interrupts, but the renegade dialogue is always far more real and less clunky, so I need to make a decision there. Better dialogue but darker Shep, or more heroic Shep but with cliche speak.

PSN is always really, really slow compared to everything else. Download and installation of ME1 (~10 gb) took about 4 hours, ME2 (~12 gb) took about the same. ME3 (~14 gb) took 6-8 hours.
It didn't really matter though since I won't start with ME1 until I've finished Assassin's Creed 3 (otherwise I'll never finish it).

Call me a wuss, but glad they improved the engine in ME2 and 3.The combat is a beast though it's just unlearning previous tactics from the sequels and adjusting as neccesary. Thanks also to mass effect wikia for great walkthroughs. Hoping Ebay has strategy guides on sale somewhere.
***EDIT/UPDATE Scratch going Ebay for a strategy guide. They're going between 45$ to $65 . Yikes! Thank you Mass Effect Wikia
***checking into the Betty Ford center for Mass Effect Dependancy***

You do realize that this is dependant on a lot of factors and isn't normal, right? As I and others have said, it only took a little over an hour to download ME1 (which is 7gb, not 10).

I don't really understand what you are trying to say. If you read what I wrote it is obvious that download times are very random. ME1 is 10 gb according to the info on psn.

10gb might be how much free space you need to download it (you always need more space to download/install than the actual file size) but I can assure you, the file you download is 7gb. Unless you're in Europe and it has 3 extra gigs of foreign language speech files or something.

Played ME1 and 2 originally on xbawks. Made the switch to PS3 with ME2 and 3 and never looked back.

How was the game on XBawks?
Since I have the PS3, I was thinking that none of the exclusives really grabbed me that and that the grass looked greener on the other side. It wasn't until I played Metal Gear Solid 4 recentlyish that I had a game which made getting the PS3 in particular worthwhile.
I really liked non-exclusive games like Bioshock the best.
Not a big Uncharted fan boy.
If I had gotten the XBawks, maybe I might have looked enviously at the PS3 games...and been happily ignorant of how little I'd like them.

Xbox ME1 had a TON of texture pop ins everywhere for everything, framerate really went to garbage on heated fights.
The only "exclusive" that I played on xbawks was Tale of Vesperia. I'm not interested in gear or halo which is all they really have besides the timed exclusive DLC deals with bethesda. Not a fan of NEEDing to pay 80 something dollars for access to apps like netflix or online multiplayer. I think the majority of people stay on xbox because all their friends are already on it.

That is one drawback of ExBorks...having to pay for the 'privilege' of accessing their XBL site. PSN is better because you only pay for games/DLC/Add ons you want, not for the 'privilege' of using the PSN.
Halo and Gears Of War are "The grass is always greener on the other side" titles for me. Maybe if I played them I'd feel just as disappointed in them as I was for Uncharted.
Alan Wake sounds intriguing so I kind of hate how there are exclusives...would one console die already! (on the assumption that the Wii isn't a major player in the console wars).
Never heard of Tales Of Vesperia! Even on PS2 I never checked out Final Fantasy either. I have played many Metal Gear Solid games though, which is a Japanese franchise.
Anyway, that's my gripe...the console exclusives don't grab me that much...plus the fact that a lot name franchises come across as betas! That's annoying! Playing and enjoying XCOM now, to some extent...really good game in there somewhere, but I wish publishers didn't treat shoppers as game testers and debuggers!

That's probably true. It seems more likely that the info tells you how much space the game will take once installed and not how large the downloadable file is. Checked now and it says ME1 is 11 gb now that it's installed.
Edit: Also, the dowloaded files for ME2 and 3 probably weren't 12 and 14 gb, but the download times were still as listed earlier.

A month or so ago I bought Mass Effect 2 to start the series, and I made a Sentinel. I made some awful choices, and when I got the Trilogy 2 days ago, I started Mass Effect 3 with him. But knowing that Mass Effect was waiting there for me, it somehow devalued the current shepard I had.
So, I made a new character, and I really like their appearance. I'm going infiltrator too. Very fun.
