My adept is having fun with a biotic death squad of Liara and Javik.

Engineer: EDI, Garrus, Tali, and Ashley
Adept, Vanguard, and Sentinel: Liara and Javik. Maybe the occasional Kaidan.
Infiltrator: Garrus, EDI. Kaidan and Tali would be okay as well.
Soldier: Who needs squadmates?

Sometimes I'll toy around with Ash and Garrus. They both have a surprisingly high damage output once you take their weapon damage evolutions. I throw Javik in there once in a while when I feel like slamming fools
I rarely use Tali and Liara. Liara is too powerful and Tali's combat drone sucks.
FYI: this applies to all classes.

Adept - Garrus & Kaiden. Good weapons, takes care of shields, Kaiden helps with bio bombs in the rare event I actually need help.
Engineer - James & Tali. James is a better combat drone than the one I cast. Great CC here, and Tali sets up quick Sabotage combos.
Sentinel - Liara & Garrus/Kaiden. Bio bombs, CC shield-stripping, good weapons damage. This team has it all.
Infiltrator - Garrus & James/Kaiden. Firepower, shield-stripping, and a tank to distract things while I roam around the battelfield.
Vanguard - Liara & Garrus/Kaiden. Mainly for bio bombs and zapping the occasional shield.
If it's not obvious, Garrus is my favorite teammate.

- Kaidan and EDI both have overload which gives Shepard the freedom to choose a bonus power other than shield drain.
- They each have fairly high health as well as a defensive skill. Liara sucks up the medi-gel, which a vanguard needs.
- The area reave>biotic charge>nova combo is quite of fun.
Infiltrator Shepard(w/energy drain bonus power), Liara and Kaidan
-Stasis and cryo blast set up easy headshots.
Sentinal Shepard(w/inferno grenade bonus power), Javik and Ashley
-Inferno grenade>lift grenade combo
I always make sure that at least 2 squad members have sheild/barrier neutralizing powers. So EDI, Garrus, Tali, and Kaidan work well with any Shepard.

Well actually now that tech combos are a little different you can run all tech squads and do well. Or you could run all combat squads. Actually you can nearly do whatever you want and it is fine. The main rule in ME3 is anything goes!

Soldier shepard I like anyone with grenades. Bombs away all day.
Sentinal shepard with one biotic and one tech that complements what you don't invest
Infiltrator, take tanks to disract and to focus on sniping instead of babysitting(Vega, Kaiden, even EDI can tank with decoy and her shields)
Engineer, anyone with tech
capn233, Liara and Javik combo is pretty awesome. Too much so, that you don't even need to play shepard. just command them. haha.

Liara and Jarvik are great until they run into an Atlas Mech, Geth Prime, or Kai Leng. No way to get past their shields.

I guess thats the only time shepard would have to fire his gun.

Good point, but that's a pretty inefficient way of doing it.

Cryo Blast for armored targets
Reave for groups of enemies and setting up/off Biotic Explosions
Overload for shields and barriers
He's even pretty tanky if you invest in Barrier too. Plus he can carry a Typhoon.
He's a great squadmate for any class.

Usually, they only inflict 30% of what Shepard can. Now, I can tell Tali and Garrus to cover a door and actually have it covered.

On Liara you should prioritize Warp over Stasis. If you do that you can easily prime any protected target, including those with Shields. Javik can also set up a biotic explosion on Shields with Dark Channel. Depending on who casts first, you could detonate the target with Liara's Warp, or Javik's Lift Grenades.Paralenko wrote...

Plus Shepard has powers and guns, and they have weapons as well.
Are their powers quite as good against shields as Tech? Nope. But they can still use combos against them and fare pretty well.

I also want to add, that shields are not terrible difficult to tear up. I've done a pure biotic run and I remember cutting through those without any problem. You can still BE on shielded enemies.

garrus - anti shield/barrier capabilities, armor piercing ammo, concussive shot to set off explosions - perfect synergies with infiltrator
liara - singularity & stasis can mez entire groups, warp to set off explosions and warp ammo - perfect support and cc
both squadmates have a passive ammo-power. the player incinerates a target, liara lifts the group and garrus blows them to hell. abnormal damage to groups of goons, without getting hit very often. both squadmates can set off explosions.
heavy targets and targets with shields/barriers are no problem for this combination.
