Hey everybody,
After checking with a couple people that the problem isn't just me - it seems like the Gamespy servers are MIA. There's a similar thread on the NWN1 forums : http://social.biowar...15186804-1.html
Does anybody have any information about this?

The latest news in that thread is not promising:
On Gamespy's Facebook page, they made a comment on Monday in regards to someone asking about SWAT 4 and Battlefront, which also apparently went down the same way. Here's the reply,
"We recently ran an audit and found games that were not supported by their publisher were still accessing our systems - we've corrected that. The games you list are examples."

Possibility for community made solutions exist, although they may be more cumbersome and require the use of clientside modifications, such as the CE. More details in the NWN1 thread linked above.

Someone already started to work on the frameworks for collecting the NWN2 server list to one place.
http://www.nwnlist.com/
Not me, so I can't take credits for it, but figured I'd convey the message further regardless. I don't know what is his nametag, but he visited our server forums to market this and also mentioned that he'd welcome assistance if some people like to take part to expand it and make it more functional with him.
For now it's mostly collecting direct connect addresses through which getting to servers is still fine. But perhaps later more functional fashion will be found.

I've also started a list of lists, using a proboards forum. It's for both nwn1 and nwn2 servers.

Contact me via my email address listed on the forum if you'd like your server listed.
I posted about it here:

Gamespy publishes server lists via the web. Here is the google web cache of their NWN2 listings which includes the server IP for direct connection, someone in one of the NWN1 threads already did this for NWN1.

Great news everobdy !
Thanks to various people's hard work - and particularly Skywing's, we're well on the way to replace Gamespy with our own free and open network, complete with a web interface, and full client integration !
So far we've got a Gamespy Master Server emulator which functions very well - all it needs is for NWN2 Server Admins to implement the latest version of xp_bugfix (available here), or modify their hosts file so it points to the new master servers:
NWN2: nwn2.mst.valhallalegends.com
NWN1: nwn1.mst.valhallalegends.com
We're currently building up a nice looking web interface that works well with this new network, but in the meantime - make sure to let your favorite servers know that they should participate instead of staying lost in the dark ! A fair number have already registered:

The above screenshot is a little program I wrote which interfaces with the new master server web service - its a quick and dirty prototype, but you can download it here.
Currently, efforts are focused towards the client component, basically translating the server response into something NWN2 can understand and display in the regular server browser. This is in research phase, but things are coming along nicely. So tell your friends, tell your neighbors, and tell your game masters
