I first heard that the species were to be still in but that the excessive governments would be simplified, with the cutting of the unions and federations and such and making them either Citadel or yahg Empire species. Then couple of days ago Arcian posted to me that only a fraction of them are gonna be in the praetor, everything else got cut.
As they are now, they are in the limbo, and its up to arcian if he wants to bring any of them back ever.

I still have all the cut stuff in a separate document so that I may reuse it later. Except the stuff that isn't mine.Charcolt wrote...
I get the supplemental minor species, but you're really getting rid of the kadeci, iolon, dascians, and all those races? They had a lot of work put into them, and were very well written. It is your decision, and it makes sense if they don't fit in your story anymore, but it is a shame.
EDIT: The primary reason for the massive revision is that I had to kill one of my darlings, namely the Proxy organization itself. I liked it too much, in fact, to the point where their existence and by extension much of the plot was based on a plot hole. That is not a good thing. When I began to objectively scrutinize my options I realized the story would get Super MAC'd if I kept everything as it was.
In fact, the reason why ME3's worse elements bombed so badly in the fandom may have been because Casey and Mac refused to kill their darlings.

I made backups of mine as well so they are safe if needed.

Not bad, good buddy! I followed the link in your signature box after reading your "Darlings" post (which I was impressed with). While it's sad to think something like this will not happen, I would be thrilled to see Mass Effect 4 as this.

Alas, only scumbag bankers earn such hard cash by stealing from the taxpayers.

Well if I ever get the chance to start a video game development company, I'll hire you as a writer!

I'm thinking she is still alive and doing her part in fighting the yahg. So the characters you are likely to meet from the old trilogy is Liara, Javik, Wrex, Grunt, Bakara, Kechlu (possibly), Shiala, and some other characters whose names I've forgotten.Charcolt wrote...
Is Liara still dead in the revised story? Her death in the original was linked to the birth of the Proxy organization, which you've stated is no longer present. What exactly was the plot hole that caused you to remove the Proxies?
The plot hole was Cryptheres entire motivation for starting the Proxy organization. It's still kind of spoilery, but his agenda was pretty much completely opposite to the purpose of the organization. So in ways, he created something that hindered his plan. Which makes no sense.
The option was to give him another agenda, but it was so closely tied into the main story that his character arc would have been completely lost otherwise.
There was also the problem with a low level Praetor having to make due with and finance crappy gear out of his/her own pocket when Cryptheres is worth like a trillion credits and churns out hyper-advanced starships like there's no tomorrow.

The manavians are like keepers for the yahg, except that they are as intelligent as any other species and capable of speech. They're small and not fit for straight-up combat, but they're excellent workers who can reach places that are hard to get to by other species.Charcolt wrote...
Do you have big plans for the Manavians, Uuu, or Kalasthi? It's your call of course, but it seemed like some of the other species (the zevhi specifically) had some cool storylines already set up
As for the uuu, I would have to ask Volc19 what he thinks is an appropriate use of them. I kept them in because I found the idea of a liquid species really interesting.
The kalasthi serve a similar role to the rachni in ME1. They're an intelligent species that doesn't use conventional technology. They CAN use it, they just prefer their own biological tools. I don't have any particular ideas what to use them for other than as an interesting enemy/ally using large mechanical suits to engage foes. I also imagine that once the mech suit breaks down, they will "burst" from the suit and either escape or swarm the enemy.
I think I removed the zevhi because their background felt really un-Mass Effect-y for some reason. Or because I had doubts about the likelihood of the yahg not intervening and utterly destroying the holy crusader terrorists for disrupting zevhi society and by extension the yahg empire. Something like that.

Don't know 'bout you, but if I have to face Uuu shaped like Banshees with power fists and wings, I'm outta here.

The crustacean mhorclai, plantlike janavri, tripedal manavians and elephant like ulatar are the "minor" Terminus races never seen before but mentioned in the ME1 codex. The yahg have conquered them all and they serve the empire. Also the vorcha and likely the lystheni salarians.
The virtual aliens, or isovani as their true name is, live inside the nexus that is the huge virtual world that all inhabitants of the galaxy can enter into.
The avian raloi are a race from the free systems that had prior brief contact with the Citadel and then fled when the reapers arrived and hid on their homeworld for many centuries in fear of them. Eventually they discovered a way of spacetravel and mustered the courage to venture out of their terratories only to find the reapers defeated by the Citadel races. The are now a Citadel client race with an embassy. Some treat them as cowards who ran and hid while the rest of the galaxy burned around them, tough naturally the raloi had little choice as they had only one planet at that time and no fleets which to use. It was a logical choice for survival. I have no further knowledge what role they specifically play, but I guess arcian can find something for them.
The shekhmu are a new race of cat like aliens that had a small galactic territory separate from the Citadel space, before they had the unfortunate luck of being discovered by the reapers who were opening up relays to find other spacefaring species outside the Citadel. They fought alone and a losing battle against the reapers until the Crucibles blast saved them. They spent the next centuries bolstering their forces and rebuilding their colonies until they finally entered a relay that connected them into the Citadel space, where humans discovered them.
About half a century has passed and the shekhmu have gained an embassy on the Citadel. However, because of their considerable military strength and large economy, like the humans before them, the ambitious shekhmu are making a strong push now to become a council race, especially since the Citadel wants them to remain as an ally against the Yahg and their empire. This means the shekhmu are in a very good negotiation position.

Huh, Reapers? Theyre gone. Or were you talking about teh protheans?
Protheans were resurrected by the salarians who as I recall discovered one of their hidden worlds that had 50 000 prothean babies or something in stasis. Cant remember how it went. Arcian should explain it.
Javik is their councillor now.
