So I just finished the game, its great and everything but there's one thing I didn't get. Why shoot the soldiers at the end? That's what I did but I don't get it, how would something like that end well, is it that Walker finally snapped and lost his mind or did he have a purpose in shooting those soldiers. My only guess would be, that he'd probably go to jail for everything that happened in Dubai and that he didn't want that but I don't know if that's what is behind that particular ending.

Welcome to Dubai.

Seriously though, I believe Walker had been broken at that point. Killing was the only thing left of him. It defines him now.

PS Nothing “ends well" in The Line.

That's what I thought but then again I don't see another ending in which things would go well. if Walker surrenders then what's likely to happen is he'd end up in jail or worse and the other choice was getting shot either by the soldiers or by yourself. At least in that ending, Walker is the one who decided what will happen to him. Don't know about it though, still seems like senseless killing though.

If Walker lives the entire world finds out about what the 33rd did in Dubai which would result in war. The options in which he dies prevents this.

Also Walker's always had a choice what will happen.

“Senseless killing" basically sums up the game.

Yeah I forgot about that, I have to say that this game and the story are some of the best I've ever played. A mission to save people which in the end becomes a quest for revenge because of a madman's delusions.

Pretty much what Legion said. Walker loses either way, his fate is very cruel.
