A few that I just discovered.

In my Dalish elf game, I only realized after Landsmeet, as I'm going around to mop up some quests before finishing up, that there is an elven messenger to take a message to your clan!

Leliana's song is not as random as it seemed to me at first - its "In Uthenara" - the lyrics to which you get when you open up Lanaya's chest in the Dalish camp.

Leliana talks about seeing the blooming rose in the dead bush back at Lothering, which was her sign that the Maker had told her to have hope and find you, essentially.  Alistair later gives you a beautiful rose that he found in Lothering....coincidence?  I think not!  I wonder how Leliana would feel to know that Alistair picked the Maker's rose?  :P

My city elf found a wounded hunter in the Brecelian forest that my Dalish elf completely missed.  Shame on you, Dalish elf!  I thought you were supposed to be a forest dweller and not so easily lost!

At the Dalish camp, in the Brecilian Forest. He's there after you gain the elves as allies. You can ask if the messenger wants company - but you can't go and see your clan. That's the one, yes?

Edit: The messenger is there for all characters, but will take a personal message for a Dalish one.

That is the one. I was just pleasantly surprised to find him there, since your Dalish elf being separated from her clan should be a painful thing for her, depending on how you played her.

Its interesting how the clan treats you differently if you're Dalish and if you're anything else.

On my first play through I thought the High Dragon was the Archdemon and thus I should avoid it until the end of the game. So I missed killing it.

My biggest newbie mistake though was not seeing the arrows at the top of the inventory screen (well, I saw them, but I thought they were purely decoration), so I thought I had to click on every character's profile to get their inventory screen.

For this reason I spent AGES (and I do mean ages), in the camp trying to work out how to frick to give people gifts. (As there are no other profile windows except your PC there) In the end I had to look it up on the forums. Major facepalm moment. :P

I too completely missed the ruins shortcut after the Urn several times. I don't think I caught it until my third or fourth playthrough. I feel a little less stupid now, seeing how many people overlooked it too. I also frequently forget to go to Genetivi's place after he gets back to Denerim. D'oh.

The throne room dragon I also wasn't aware of; I'll have to remember that next time I'm in Orzammar.

My first time around playing DA:O on the Xbox, I didn't figure out how to summon the armies until I was up to the alienage. No wonder the fights were such a HUGE pain in the arse!

hmm feel less like a fool now knowing I am not the only one who didn't figure out how to summon armies at the final battle.. I spent most of the time getting whooped and winging to myself about my non existent armies, I didn't figure it out until I got to the Archdemon lol

The first macro I wrote was for Liliana, when I didn't understand the game. Didn't realise it until about the time of Landsmeet.

It was "if enemy health <75% - drink lowest health potion

So I never had any health potions through most of the game, Lily drank them as quick as I found them. Wynne was pretty busy.

LOL yeah I thought that. I kept feeling like I had to hide it behind my back every time I talked to Leliana.

I didn't miss the prisoner, but I missed the fact that he gave you the key if you asked 'why should I help you?" as I thought it was kinder to just help him and not argue about it.

I didn't know about friendly fire hurting npcs on lower levels.... Redcliff militia slaughter makes sense now

I missed the last scroll of bannistor in the werewolf lair about five times, as it goes into that cutscene and I never thought to check the rooms there.

And I too have 11 love letters lol missed one somewhere.

Not mine...but my friend's.

First playthrough he killed Wynne without realising she was a potential party member. Several of us play DA:O, and we were talking about how excellent of a healer Wynne was, and he always went, "Who? Who? I never saw her!"

To top it off, he was the only PS3 player, so we all thought Wynne was excluded from PS3.

His second playthrough he had Leliana and Wynne with him at Sacred Ashes, and he did not know he could reject Kolgrim's offer. Naturally he killed them both, and was wondering how the hell could the game have gotten to that point.

It toke me 3 playthroughs to understand how you should use injury kits. At most quests I ended up with about 4 to 8 injury`s. Those bosses where complete pains

This. I totally didn't understand how they worked until 1/2 of the way through my second game.

It wasn't until my third playthrough that I found out you can get a sword off of that Elven Messenger.

Wait??
What messenger and what sword?
Damn, looks like I need load a Ostagar save.

Glad I wasn't the only one that couldn't figure out how in the world to leave the market in Denerim.
And the short cut in Sacred Ashes quest, I actually came across that one by accident on my 3rd play-thru.

Up to then I couldn't decide which was worse - getting back from the Deep Roads  to Ostagar or getting back up to the temple thru the ruins.

And I'll admit, did not know about Ageless until I saw it on the forums. and then it took me a few tries to figure out where the floor plates where at in the throne room.

tombstones in Haven - too funny!

Won't need to use injury kits if you have a spirit healer in your party and use the 4th point sustainable aura.  it removes injuries but I think that's only out of combat, I haven't tested that yet.

Hmm--missed the fact that the Ostagar quartermaster's inventory resets and you can buy stuff again after the Korcari Wilds (most especially the backpack).

Missed I don't know how many things my first playthrough because I kept forgetting to hit the Tab key: the Drifter's Cache, Topsider's Honor, Unbound, Asunder, the list goes on.

Also on my first playthrough, I missed the Chasind signs quest in the Korcari Wilds. Sigh--a lot of stuff I could have used on that playthrough.

Missed the hidden doors in the ruins in the Brecilian Forest (in several playthroughs), and thus 1 of the love letters I needed to complete Correspondence Interruptus.

Missed the shortcut to/from the Mountaintop area.

Missed the fact that you can level up characters in camp by going through the Character page.

Just found out yesterday about the Gangue Shade--always missed that on every playthrough, including my current one as I don't feel like going back there.

I used to sell robes as quick as I found them ....then I put a set on a male warrior and danm if he didn't look good in them. Sten is now wearing the Robes you find during the mission into the wilds. He looks better in them then he does in all that heavy mail and plate armor.

She'd write a song about it or weave a tale around it, of course.  How the same simple rose could fill a lost heart with the love of the Maker and then go on to bring love between two strangers...
