Hi there......the questions in here are for those who have completed the game. If you have not completed the game, please close out of this window, as there are SPOILER questions below.....

My PC crashed hard, so rather than installing DAO again, I decided to purchase the Ultimate Edition, and started over. THANKFULLY, I finally found a portion of a backup of a game that I had been playing that was a few battles away (finaly warning, major spoilers ahead! ) from the Archdemon. I replaced my "new" game with what I thought was a backup. It worked! All the characters, inventory, etc., were there, with the exception of achievements. For some reason, they did not appear on my game part. My character appeared intact, with the exception of now the % complete of DA went from the 90s to lower numbers. 10 maybe? At any rate, the major question:

While battling the dragon, my character, and two others fell. Alistair remained alive and was able to slay the dragon; HOWEVER, during the final blow, my character reappeared and is shown slaying the dragon (perhaps scripted without user intervention) . (Note: I slept with Morgan prior.) Then the next scene, Alistair is King, and all the characters that were slain, also now appear. My character is also alive.

Also, during the final battle, I summoned the Redcliff soldiers, and the number dropped to 1, never below, so I could not summon more when needed. And I could have used them!

Questions:

1: Does this affect my character at all for DA- Awakening?  (I plan on starting that this weekend.) Does DAA consider my character dead, or does DAA allow an import, and treat it as if my character killed the dragon. That battle was TOUGH, so I am really not looking forward to replaying it again.

2: Was the Redcliff 1 a bug, or was a blue ring stuck somewhere? Should I have used the elves instead?

For those wondering what happned, my character got ripped apart by some exploding darkspawn. I just could not drink the potions quick enough!

BTW, nice touch how to end the game and see everyone again.

No way. No one notices or cares if you got knocked out in battle. In fact, you can avoid sleeping with Morrigan and literally get killed by the Archdemon - complete with a funeral scene after the war is over - and you can still show up in DAA with no one considering you dead. It's one of the sillier parts of the expansion, but really gets the point across. Every Fereldan Warden, no matter the outcome, is treated as having killed the Archdemon in Awakening.

Also, you've probably noticed before now that characters who "die" during combat always get right back up after the battle is over, provided your last party member doesn't die and you aren't forced to reload an earlier save. You can just pretend that your character was temporarily knocked out, Alistair merely weakened the Archdemon for you, then your character got back up and killed it for good during that badass cutscene.

Speaking from experience, no matter who kills the Archdemon, you're shown to be the one landing the killing blow.

Gotta love gameplay/story segregation.

I think it's better to use the elves since they get some much-needed respect and recognition for helping humans in the Blight, but unless you want to do the final battle again, I'd just leave it alone. I have no idea about the Redcliff 1 thing (are you sure they weren't killed when you werenn't looking?), but it doesn't sound game-breaking. I'd leave it alone.

It's not a bug, it's the number of troops you have for that group. If it had dropped to zero they all would have died and you couldn't resummon anyway.
