I did that all the time when I first unlocked the Volus. If specced correctly the shield boost provides damage reduction for 6 seconds. I used to follow teammate around and continously shield boost him. I didn't know that there was that glitch and I thought there was no harm done. I just tried to help my team. When I learned about the glitch I decided to not to play Volus again until it gets fixed.

Doesn't mean he was intentionally trying to cause that glitch to you. Not every player reads the forums and knows everything about everything...

Talk about knee jerk reactions, it's a common albeit annoying bug that is easily fixable with heavy melee. If that doesn't solve the issue then it makes sense to leave the match but it's hardly a reportable offense.

Unfortunately a decent amount of people on the BSN are immature and like to harass others to get noticed instead of actually understanding the problem or point of the post.

Heavy melee.

He can't grief you because all he's going to do is keep you alive, and if he goes down you can simply not revive him. He'll quickly learn that he's doing the opposite of what he wants.

If only... tell that to the Atlas I was able to kick to the obvilion on Rio, I had no bullets cause I had already used them, but he was unable see me nor pass me. To be honest, chances that people are spamming shield boost on you to deliberately jam your powers are pretty slim. They are almost certainly trying to help you. Not to mention that players who don´t read forums are probably not aware of this bug and they also unfortunately don´t know that heavy melee can fix it.
And it does affect host. I believe there was some more detailed explanation...that you have to be in the middle of reloading your gun while getting your shield boosted to have this happen. Or something like that...

Ok 1st off, the shield boost bug is random, it has nothing to do with spamming it. I've ran entire games with a volus following me spamming the sh!t out of it and had no problems, on the other hand I've had matches where volus runs up and SB one time and I'm bugged.

2nd thing is not to panic and fly into a rage as you obviously did. There's 3 ways to fix it quickly A: heavy melee (sometimes this gets bugged as well) so B: vault over cover works every time. and C: get downed.

Also I really doubt he was following you and SBing you to bug you on purpose. If you were the top scorer in the last match by any decent margin he probably figured it be best to support you. I've had this happen a few times.

Bottom line, and I hate to break it to you, but you over reacted and made your self look like an ****, sorry not trying to be insulting, actually trying to be helpful and just let you know for next time =).

dude was most likely trying to help the team, it's what I do when I play a rolly-polly volus, though I try not to overly spam it because of said glitch.
it's not like it makes you useless for the rest of the match, just heavy melee and you're back to normal, sure, it's frustrating, but it's not really that guy's fault.

So... they play a volus... defined as a support char (debatable)... follows you... giving you shields and 50% damage reduction - playing his role... and your mad?

So you heavy melee and keep firing? You have a volus pumping out shields for you and dmg reduction. When I spam SB, I find the strongest player and stick to him like glue. If I'm in a game where there is a volus being generous with SB I make it a point to keep close. If the player is good normally, imagine how much better they could be if they also had a stream of shields and damage reduction?

I dont get it OP.......  why so mad?

Yes, you're right. I would imagine that it's only a few that would use this in the hopes of trolling a teammate. I guess it never made sense to me that players would spam the power rather than waiting to hear their teammate saying "shields down", considering the high cooldown times of the other powers the UR Volus have.

Well for those of you who didn't know about the glitch now you do. I can only hope that Bioware tries to fix this because there are people out there trying to help their team out. Even though using heavy melee can fix it, that is only temporary. This problem needs to be fixed. If they can patch the vanguard glitch I'm sure they can do something about this.

So few people play Volus that not everyone knows that shield boost can break weapons/powers. I've only had it happen to me once before. So there are a fair amount of people that would think they are helping you by spamming shield spam.

Did you calmly tell the person to chill out a bit on the shield boost, or save it for heavy fighting? Otherwise, if you just flipped out he/she may not have known what was going on...

I didn't even know it was a problem until I read it on the forums, and I've only ever had it happen to me once in a match... (last week I think).

To be fair....you're never really going to hear that in a firefight unless you're really paying close attention. By then however, the person may already be dead, or be drowned out by the fact that you're a volus and probably in the same position.

And the characters don't always say when their shields are down, plus most volus use the DR boost to shield boost, which means the way to best make use of it is to spam it.

I don't plug my mic in for pug matches. I only put it after my powers and weapons stopped working.
