Wow... why the **** are a bunch of idiots making this thread about her being a chick because of one ****ing throwaway line in the OP?
Shut the **** up. That isn't the point. The issue relates to a glitch that locks you out of all action if you get shield boosted while reloading, and the possibility of using this to grief people. The OP could have been a pr-op transexual (gender binary FTL!) prostitute advertising their services through Xbox live for some stupid reason, and it would still be a valid issue.
Because half of her argument is that she knew she was being griefed due to her gender. Had she not brought that up at all it still isn't a great argument since there is no way to really know if it were intentional or not unless they said it was.
Yes the bug does suck, but it seriously takes next to no time to fix it (note: if you are being shot at, RUN AWAY if you can't defend yourself). As I said before, make your case about the bug and simply be done with it. No need for gender, race, being paranoid that you are being griefed, etc. to ask for a fix.
Half? Literally one sentence in there is about gender. It's the only point where it's mentioned. It could be removed from the OP and the point would be the exact ****ing same. I can't imagine people bothering to respond to that particular portion unless they're misogynistic dicks, because there's really no reason to make an issue of it unless you have a problem with gamer girls.
It probably shouldn't have been mentioned in the OP, but so what? Why choose THAT to respond to? What about that specific, tiny line out of a post with several paragraphs makes people flock to it and say "I R OFFENDUD THAT U MENTIONED BEINGG A GURL!!" It's ****ing stupid.
I responded to other reasons as well, but the whole argument was that she was being griefed by it and a possible reason for that was her being a female. I have played with the OP and don't have a personal issue with her whatsoever, but that doesn't change the fact that she mentioned it as well as claiming she was griefed with no real evidence to back it up.
That fact that you feel the need to defend her when none of her claim was exactly valid speaks to me more than anything. Again, I won't disagree that the bug is annoying, but it takes next to no time to fix so why make some huge deal out of it? One more thing, if you think I have some issue with female gamers you are very wrong. Two of the people I play with the most on Xbox are female, but they don't go throwing their gender around for any reason the way the OP has in numerous post of hers.
Anyways, have fun playing the boy scout!
What's the boy scout thing a reference to? I don't get it. I'm responding to the fact that a bunch of idiots get their panties in a bunch over a single line.
As for griefing vs. not griefing, I've just decided in general that you can't say anything about it unless you were there. When you describe it, sometimes it sounds exactly like a situation that it isn't much like. I trust the OP to be competent enough to differentiate between griefing and just sort of playing a Volus poorly. I'm 100% certain that she's come across Volus who just don't know how to do anything but shield boost, because everyone has by now. Since I don't see weekly threads making this claim, I'm betting that something was different about this specific time, even if she couldn't put it into words.
The same thing happened in a thread I wrote about two pricks t-bagging me by doing the revive-stop reviving dance over my body before walking away. The response in the thread was mostly "sometimes it looks like this when I'm lagging or trying to go into cover," and I've seen that, I've done that, and I KNOW what that looks like. Something was intangibly different, and I could tell that it was a taunt. Previous instances when that same sort of thing's happened, I didn't get that same feeling, even if I can't describe why.
The difference is, when I wrote that thread, they dismissed it as garden variety paranoia. Here, it became a whole weird thing about gamer girls victimizing themselves and a whole set of accusations about someone flaunting their gender. I make no secret of the fact that I'm a guy, and no one ever accuses me of flaunting it just because I mention it.
Whether people in this thread think they have a problem with gamer girls or not, they've responded much differently than they would have if the line had been phrased in a gender-neutral way or the accusation was that the guy didn't like being outscore by a guy. Otherwise, they would have made the same "you're just being paranoid" claim and left it at that rather than specifically stating that they think the OP is stupid because she thinks she may have been being trolled because of gender discrimination.
