ME1 has a lot of fake dialogue choices that pretty much say the same things. I still feel like ME2 had the best dialogue wheels. I'm also a bit disappointed that they didn't try to carry over some of the PC improvements on the inventory system to the PS3 version.

Other than that, I love ME1. People always complained about the real time loading (elevators and Normandy boarding) but personally I love it. It makes the Mass Effect Universe feel seamless.

EDIT:

Also, I don't know if they improved the handling on the Mako but it feels so much easier driving it with a dualshock controller.

yeah the dialogue may change nothign some times BUT i get to roleplay instead of a default a and a default b demeanor or behavior Me3 offers.

So basically you get to lie to yourself that what your shepard is saying is actually what he is saying, rather than just a loading screen for autodialouge that ME1 dialouge wheel actually is.

Okay, I'm on Feros, and I realized something... Liara never offered to meld with me to look at the vision... It was... weird... I know she was supposed to offer when I get her! It was part of the plot, or something! I saw it in youtube, once! It was the reason she felt dizzy! Well, one of them...

Hm, I think it's a bug...

Hey yea! I thought something was missing there too.

Damn, that's a pretty bad bug.

yes it makes quite a difference to me and legion of other players.
still better than Me3 autodialogue and false renegade options.

Personal opinion : in Me3 most renegade options were kinda squishy while some others felt something a paragon would say.

At least ME3 was honest when it didn't give you a choice in what to say, ME1 lies to your face with it's different labeled options, when your shepard has no choice but to say the exact same line the exact same way. It killed all my enjoyment of playing a different playthrough and trying to pick something different to say.

I value honesty more than prettied up flat out lies in what I can or can't say. How I feel about ME1 dialouge is how others probably feel abou pre-release lies and hype.

Anyway, despite the games faults that drive me up a wall with frustration, ME1 is still good, not my favorite at all, but still good.

And I'm glad PS3 owners finally get to expereince it rather than rely on a stupid comic add on dlc.

Well yea. But to be fair it's tough to be a jackass when the plot requires diplomacy for victory.

Mass Effect 1 had the best executed underlying plot and the best villain in Saren. However the combat is absolutely atrocious. You get so many WTF deaths, even on easy. The sound during fights can also get annoying "ENEMIES EVERYWHERE!" Certain missions have terribly bland environments, Feros comes to mind. Others have great environments like Noveria which at times feels like a survival horror game as well as the lush scenery on Virmire.

The soundtrack is weird. At times you feel like it doesn't fit as BGM on the Normandy always plays but yet for some reason you get to the middle of converstations and end up loving the fact that its there. I actually wished they would have done something similar in ME2 and ME3.

I played it on 360 after beating ME2 on PS3. It was a unique experience but definitely an enjoyable one. Now that i own a 360 and a PC I have copies for both. Not sure if I'll get it for PS3 especially since I mostly play ME on PC now but you never know.

How is it on PS3? Playability and graphics wise?

Graphics and playability is fine.

Playing it on the PS3 now ... played it on the PC back in the day. Going to play through all three so I can actually get my decisions to carry through.

So far:

I had forgotten that ME1 combat was so ... leisurely. There are hard fights, but only rarely. Still fun, tho.

I *hate* what they did with the decryption mini-game. If I wanted endless QTEs I'd play God of War.

The Mako does handle better on the PS3. Analog sticks help, and the controls have been revamped a bit. It's now "go that way" instead of being so sensitive to which direction the Mako is facing.

Other than that, no big differences ... pretty good port of a pretty good game.

Oh, and Benezia is still a ****.

Does the techno music still end up playing when she dies starying at her boobs? Or did they fix that bug?

and bug wise. I played ME2 on PS3 and got an almighty bug on the Overlord DLC which I then quit after. I had finished the main campaign by that point and I thought I was home free, aside from one bug I had encoutered on the Shadow Brokers ship near the shutter you can open. I'd be worried about ME1 on PS3, it didn't work all that well on the 360, it was glitchy and liked to slow down when there were too many enemies. I hate to think what the Unreal 3 engine would do, its not a fan of Sony.

There is a huge bug that skips over Liara's mind melding scene.

Also there are some lip syncing issues. Other than that it's smoother than I remember it on 360; better framerate, no screen tearing, a lot less texture pop-in. Though in my eyes its worse than the PC version which has the best inventory system.

It;s bad also becasue it shows the limits of what the ME1 engine could do, that is, it couldn't handle changes in facial expressions too well.

The whole fight, she keeps turning around to change how her face looks and what emotion she has, also most of the time the emotion didn't look right.

So overall, the entire benezia thing is probably the worst portion of ME1.

And as a bonus, the writing, oh dear god the writing. "Good night little wing. I will see you again at the dawn."

I'm sorry, did this game turn into a fantasy jrpg between cuts?

Erm how can you compare the two?

Kai Leng sucks because of plot armor. Benezia sucks because you don't really have any adequate cover to fight her.

I'd go so far to say benezia is a worst character with worse writing than kai leng. But that's just me.

Call it what you want. The gameplay with him feels pointless on Thessia because of how it always plays out.
