Kai Leng is worse imo for a couple of reasons. Benezia was in the 1st game.. 1st time BioWare had worked with the engine, they tried to push the borders with it in regards to emotion etc... Having gone through 2 games, a terrible character like Kai Leng just should not have existed. Though there were no limitations with Kai Leng in regards to the engine, the writing for Leng was much worse than Benezia. Benezia's bad lines were more sporadic, while Kai Leng is just dumb space ninja across the board.

Also, Benezia didn't play such a significant role like Kai Leng did so that helps her case too.

That is not plot armor.

Call it what you want. The gameplay with him feels pointless on Thessia because of how it always plays out.

oh boy... deja vu..

He calls Shepard slow, but other then that, doesn't speak much.

well after spending the last 3 days on my first play through i absolutely love me1. i agree the combat is a bit clunky and i like the combat more in me2 and 3, but the challenge of the sniper riffle was awesome and i fell in love with the shotgun in this game lol. i never gave it a real chance before in any of the games, but i'm seriously rethinking my position. i forgot i can't pick the color of my armor which sucked, but its cool. oh and my not so favorite thing is a thresher maw popping up right in front of me, i forgot all about them since its been so long....all in all i love it and i love having the trilogy...great work bioware the first game made me fall in love with the series all over again.

Good villains are hard.

In fact, now that I think about it, I can't really think of a single 'epic' work of fiction where the villain really impressed me. Maybe that's a good thing. I wouldn't want the villian to be the most charismatic and interesting character.

Not even Bane or Joker from the Dark Knight movies?

I did not like Bane. Honestly, I didn't care much for TDKR entirely.

The Joker certainly wasn't bad. But he was a lot more powerful and capable then he had any reason to be. It made some of the drama fall a bit flat since he's basically unstoppable.

I don't just mean his dialog. Even his written role in the script. Everything about him screams "generic cumatmebro villian!"

And as a bonus, the writing, oh dear god the writing. "Good night little wing. I will see you again at the dawn."

Uh, yeah.  Playing through again, the writing is worse than I remembered.

I changed it to 'epic' fiction. It's a lot easier to write good villains when you can focus more on their side of the story.

The email he sent made me cringe.

He tries so hard to act like he and Shepard have a long history together....

Well, I haven't seen or played any of those works.

I did play New Vegas by Obsidian, though. Caesar was a pretty good villain. It's a shame that you only hear most of his material if you ally with him.

Mass Effect 1 had the best executed underlying plot and the best villain in Saren. However the combat is absolutely atrocious. You get so many WTF deaths, even on easy. The sound during fights can also get annoying "ENEMIES EVERYWHERE!" Certain missions have terribly bland environments, Feros comes to mind. Others have great environments like Noveria which at times feels like a survival horror game as well as the lush scenery on Virmire.

The soundtrack is weird. At times you feel like it doesn't fit as BGM on the Normandy always plays but yet for some reason you get to the middle of converstations and end up loving the fact that its there. I actually wished they would have done something similar in ME2 and ME3.

I played it on 360 after beating ME2 on PS3. It was a unique experience but definitely an enjoyable one. Now that i own a 360 and a PC I have copies for both. Not sure if I'll get it for PS3 especially since I mostly play ME on PC now but you never know.

^^THIS.
Good god, the difference between ME1 vs ME2/ME3 is like night and day. It just further solidifies my opinion that overall, Mass Effect 2 was the best game in the trilogy.

People b****ed about Dragon Age II's repetitive dungeons, the locales during the side-missions are just as bad.

I really, really hate the Mako, and I thought the Hammerhead was garbage.
The Hammerhead's armor maybe constructed of tissue paper, but at least the Hammerhead regenerated its shields/armor 20x faster than the Mako's. The sad thing is, it makes me appreciate ME2's Planet Scanning whole lot more. I'd rather take 5-10 minutes to strip-mine a planet, than take 20-40 minutes bouncing like a freakin' beach ball, playing QTEs just to mine the same crap. It just proves that BioWare just can't do vehicle gameplay.

The Citadel in ME2 & 3 were FAR better designed, ME1's Citadel was just big for the sake of being big. It takes forever to get anywhere in that place and elevator rides are just as mind-numbing as "real-life" elevators.

The Item selection for shops/merchants were far better and more consistant in ME2 & 3, ME1's selection is just annoyingly random. Best/worst example of this is the probablity of finding "Quarian Armor" in this game.

And yes, the combat gameplay is terrible. ME2 just fixes and streamlines EVERYTHING that was wrong with the combat in ME1.

FemShep is ugly and poorly designed in this game. BioWare themselves admitted as much when they said that femShep was an after-thought when they were originally making ME1.IMO Jennifer Hale was the only save grace for that "thing". HOWEVER, the PS3 version does fix femShep's face.
-------
The ONLY thing that this game has over the other two are the RPG elements--weapons, armor, and accessories(i.e. stabilizers, specialized ammo, Medi-Gel interfaces, etc) actually made noticeable stat improvements during combat. And level-grinding actually makes your squad significantly stronger.

Which is horribly unrealistic. Guns getting 10x stronger over the course of a game stretches things.

Best story. Best music. Best villain. In the entire trilogy.

If we went by those, it'd be the best in the trilogy. Has nothing to do with nostalgia( though, that doesn't hurt any)

I'm on Noveria right now and that place gives me the creeps. When those small Rachni workers come charging at me; i start screaming like a seven year old girl. Hopefully as a engineer i get to fight some Geth soon because these non-synthetic fights are kicking my ass.

I think if they wanted to improve ME1 the only thing they could do to improve it is try to put in the combat system from ME2 and 3. I say this because ME1 combat feels out of place for the series, the change may have been a bit good overall for the series but ME2 and ME3 feel like different games compared to ME1 only the story makes its feel like a series.

I also hear alot about Mako driving my first experience with the Mako was the 360 so I always used analog sticks for my Mako experience, sounds dreadful on the PC. I also like the Citadel on ME1 better than ME2 and ME3, its a shame ME3 didnt give us back the ME1 Citadel.

The possibility to ask for "personal questions" in this game is great.
Wish that option was still possible in the other 2.

So, how it was - realise that Cerberus is evil in ME1 and not are "good guys outside the law"?
