If all the LI in-game (both men & women) looked like utter trash, would you still romance him/her anyway? <3

That depends on the character. If I liked them as a person, I'd be inclined to romance them unless they looked like a full-on twisted abomination-meatbag-thing (seriously, what is up with abominations turning into weird meat lumps?!). I'm not going to say looks don't matter at all, because there ARE lines, but I'd be fine with romancing someone unattractive or somewhat disfigured, as long as they had a personality I liked.

Are we talking about a double-bagger or Hollywood homely? An example of the first would be Old Barlin. An example of the second would be... er... Oghren.

I've got absolutely no objection to ordinary-looking people of average looks. It would take some really persuasive writing to make Old Barlin appealing as a LI.

Honestly I don't mind some pixels, I romance anders and fenris cause seb annoyed me to no end. and they weren't the best looking but I liked their personalities. Thou if I had known what anders was going to do I would never of romanced him to begin -.- so happy I killed him. Why can't they bring someone like Alistair back lol

I'm not ashamed to admit that I wouldn't romance an ugly character. Maybe its a little short sighted and maybe its a little mean but I don't care. I'm just being honest.

I think a better question would be, "Why would X character romance an ugly [insert protagonist here]?"

Kind of shows how seriously the game takes the whole 'realism' argument that keeps flying around these parts.

Depends. If we're talking about a Hespeth/Broodmother level of ugly, then no, but other than that, I'd rather go ugly than go with some of the more annoying LI's we've had in recent Bioware games.

well, in ME2 and ME3 I romanced a Turian. a scaly man with bird legs and dinosaurus face. and my second choise was a lizard man with enormous eyes and webbed hands. And my MaleShep romanced cthulhu's baby girl.

If the character have an appealing personality, I'd say, why no?
Everything depend by how the character is whritten. at least on my part. If the character is good looking too, is a bonus.

No idea. Depends how they are presented and the personality of my character. If they are complete goofs because they are the "ugly one" then probably not. If the character is "ugly" and is given the "sympathetic character" treatment or "non conformist, strong, but not arrogant" traits then I could see the story playing out with the PC having a romance with said character.

Reminds me how Tyrion and Brienne are described in ASoIaF. Awesome people are awesome.

Well, no matter how ugly you make your character, you won't get turned down in the game. Humans are more shallow than fictional video game characters...lol!

No, I wouldn't romance such a character. (Hm, maybe I have a very good imagination.) I've got absolutely no problems with romancing characters of "average" looks, however.

We all have our own views on what is considered attractive anyway. But as long as I liked the character overall, it wouldn't matter what they looked like.

Don't get me wrong. I am partial to a pretty face.
But if someone is really ugly but succeeds in other ways, then yes.
