 Discussions of returning characters are abundant, and I would hope that this one at least adds something. 

By character integration I am referring to the need of/ or necessitation for returning characters. To bring in say Morrigan she would need reason to be there even though she has a bread crumb trail to be there. We can find reason for her presence in the game other than the five minute return of Zevran or Nathaniel Howe in DA2. (Which had it's own effect but left some soured.) 

To integrate other charcters it would be great if they are interactive like Isabel knowing Zevran. But one further the new character and the old character could be in conflict to choose one over the other for party joining. For example having a templar who may be pursuing Morrigan without telling the player character. It makes for good dynamic and drama. Having not just returning characters but having their stories intertwine just creates more purpose and depth for those characters. I am hoping though that that depth be even greater than the examples in DA2.

TLDR: My questions for the board in hope of good discussion would then be: 

If returning characters were in Orlais by necessity; who fits both the story and could have conflict enough to engage future charcters for your personal support? 

Which characters could you see coming back to resolve a possible storyline or antagonize the story for a main story arc?

And for those of you have thought such a thing please list or sound off such ideas for us to share.

Before anyone else says it. Cullen. Call me a hypocrite if you've seen one of my threads here, but this is probably nothing to do with the characters as companions.

Also, Leliana, Zevran, Isabela, Alistair. Leli is self-explanatory, Zev and Izzy for their... taste, in activities, and Ali, but only if he's the king, or still a warden.

Cullen would definitely fit the Morrigan pursuer type story line. Did you have any suggestions as to how they could be 'integrated' in a greater depth than just wanting them there?

I personally would enjoy getting to use Cullen as a character and he would get the 'new' stamp that way.
