I like to imagine that my Novaguard's a virgin and screams constantly because of sexual frustration. I have a hard time not laughing through games.
Let me guess, no one plays the Novaguard anymore because of the screaming?

He's invincible and incredibly boring to play as. Noob PUGs are too stupid to play him right, so you never see them use him.

I still play Novaguard occasionally. The reason I don't play it more often is because I'm trying to play characters that either didn't impress me or I didn't know how to play effectively. The Novaguard doesn't fall into either of these categories for me.

I've recently been breaking out my novaguard, its a lot of fun. Nova-canceling, dancing around, charging from one target to the next, its quite exhilarating. However, it can be very frustrating to play with as well.

no one play novaguard cause it's hard to master and you have to be ready to gel cause BS can always happen
and he's the most host dependant vanguard in the game as if normal vanguards were not host dependant enough
tried once and only once to play him off host, it was a nightmare
a whole game unable to nova-cancel, charge not working ecetera...

Can't stand using charge-nova, charge-nova, charge-nova the entire game.. Tried it once on Bronze and I couldn't stand it.

They're mildly underpowered now. (Look at the Krogan Vanguard.)
No they aren't.
Geth Prime elbow of death disagrees.
Apparently moving the control thingies around is foreign to you?

Cause its too much a chore to play on gold/plat the the returns aren't worth the upkeep of the invuln frames. Plus drone stuns are retarded :/

I still play the novaguard on gold sometimes. there is nothing like charging into a group of 4 phantoms and 2 dragoons and completely destroying them.

Never pegged the Novaguard as a screamer.

I'd play him far more often if it wasn't so horrible off host.
It's one of my favourite characters, but even when you have a good connection the nova and charge lag are just brutal. I can handle silver off host, but forget about gold. It's a class that lives right on the edge, and the lag that affects only charge and nova really just pushes it over that edge and makes it unplayable on gold.

The Phoenix Vanguard never stops grunting, I always have to turn it down before my Dad knocks on my door to see what I'm watching lol.

Great kit but very host dependent, like the slayer.

I use my novaguard sometimes on silver, with the Acolyte as a main weapon and an SMG as back up. But I'd never take her on gold+.
Her lack of damage (half nova does almost no damage in gold) and survivability (you just can't charge syn-killers, her back-roll is too slow) makes her really hard to use on higher difficulties.
IMO, full nova should drain 50% barriers and half nova only 25%. Or the damage on Nova should get a HUGE boost, making it worth to charge bosses.

Being the Bronze playing noob that I am...I've been playing the Novaguard a fair bit recently. Not as much as I'd like, but I got in about 10 matches this week with the character.

Off host offers many problems, vanguarding is one of them.

Use a "effect past weapon with like incendiary and you got the BANG EFFECT you will cause FE constantly with either a nova or a BC, the key of a BC is not damage but utility of fail safe, the NOVA should instead of being "once shield suck" a twin nova, that way half shields still set of a combo, tada, they take care for their tech explosions but they make a top tech exploitation, able to cause it via their BC (even by the brantching to targets) ability if you don't hit the proper BC target or it's behind something un BCable
in Demo days I could play em on gold and vigor yellin LEEROY JENKINS with glee, and if I fell down at leas tmy party knew I took out nearly every foe down there ^_- even on gold, nowadays...

I dust my base line Novaguard out occasionally. Great fun on bronze for a warm up round though it's little too easy, too quickly. Still works in silver. For me, the Scimitar works well. You can pin them down with rapid fire while you recharge. Discovered this while getting the Scimitar badge, a weapon I wouldn't have touched with a barge pole otherwise.

I don't play it for a simple reason: lag.
I can't host so using nova/charge and hoping it will work when I want is something I'd like to avoid.

Because alone, Novaguard deals low DPS. It needs an adept with reave or warp to reach full potential in platinum. In gold, it's great, but it pales in comparison in Plat if the team is poorly coordinated...
It's very much a teamplayer type character if played correctly, counterintuitively...

I play all characters about equally because I like variety and if one is weaker then the other doesn't matter all that much to me. For me its about the fun really.
