That is because at least here in Germany we do not have that many opportunities to listen to people from Australia or New Zealand. Furthermore our English teachers at school are either German (this is really the worst for learning English without much accent), British or American. But being in the EU we of course can distinguish the Irish from the British Image IPB

Ahh I see, yes well if English is not your first language then you can be excused for not being able to tell the difference. :P

But those Americans who get it confused... they have no excuse. <_<

Nice guide, and your voice is much more bearable than you give yourself credit. Then again, I have played some other games with people from the same place as you. Its too bad some ME3 MP players will never see your vid, but those that do will at least learn how to better themselves. So kudos to you.

Very nice video guide Sirian, well done!

Loved the choice of music pieces too.

I was going to skip through it as I kind of know this stuff, but found myself watching the whole thing, partly because of your voice. It is clear (as in pronunciation), a reasonable speed (very helpful for non native speakers) and nicely chilled out, so stop giving yourself a hard time over it.

If you do another, I'd suggest discussing basic teamwork and synergy. For example, when you are tlaking about priming first because your prox mine can detonate for FEs, that issue of timing would also go to situations when you are capable of detonating other players' powers. Sometimes, as say, AA, it's very tempting to use your own warp when you see the enemy first, but if your teammate is a TSent and you know he's right next to you, it's better to wait a second for their warp and get the throw in quick for the BE, no?

Anyway, great guide.... now the only question is how to get the 'weaker' PUG players to watch it!

Have fun :)

After sy7ar made a brief guide covering & explaining a few of the things experienced players do while in-game, I decided to make a more in-depth guide. The guide mainly focuses on how I play and a bunch of tips & tricks I use when I'm playing in PUG's (I used to PUG exclusively and learned a lot while doing it, so I felt I'd pass some of the knowledge on).

A few things to be aware of:

Firstly I am not Stardusk, so the video won't sound like it's narrated by Robert Downy Jr. - Sorry about that :(

Secondly, the video is quite long and covers a wide variety of topics, from reload cancelling to soft cover to objectives to revives and more.

Finally, it is a GENERAL gameplay guide, mainly intended for intermediate players (casual players will likely not care about any of the stuff, and advanced players probably already know a lot/all of it, so bear that in mind). it is not a guide on any specific class or weapon.

You can find the video here. Don't forget to read the description. And don't forget to watch in glorious 720p HD that took me ages and ages and ages to upload.

First off, very nice guide. Watched all the way through and athough I knew most everything already from experience or just intuitively, I still picked up some new things from it (thanks for the tip about running away diagonally!). Great for new and intermediate players, for sure.

Secondly, what an awesome comedy break with the Benny Hill Theme PUGs-clutch-the-wave moment. Image IPB

Thirdly, totally agree about the sync-kill. I always immediately apologize when that happens. Feels bad, man. Image IPB

And finally, your voice is fine. It was clear, good enunciation, very fluid and smooth. And frankly, I'm fascinated by accents, so, really, you could probably read the phone book and I'd be entertained. Heck, even as minor an accent as Canadian is cool to me... played with a Canadian Thursday night and another on Friday and just grinned madly the whole time.

At least Aussies are fairly easy to understand, though. Unlike my Scottish buddy who, sweet and funny as he is, I usually have to get him to repeat something three times before I understand what he just said. Image IPB

But I agree, I think most people probably hate the sound of their own voice. I know I do. Nothing makes me feel weirdly inadequate quite like hearing my Southern "redneck woman" American twang played back on the answering machine... ick... Image IPB

Thanks. =] At this moment I have no further plans to do more guides... but I'll keep that in mind... being someone's detonator doesn't come naturally. :P

Well the main reason I think I don't like my voice is because it's so different from most other Australian accents.  But I guess if people don't mind it, all is well. :wizard:

And yes the Benny Hill part made me laugh when I watched it after rendering.  Drell running around @ super speed suited it perfectly...

I love your voice Sirian, and 100% agree with all the comments from DragonRacer. There is actual a scientific reaosn we hate our voice. It is because of the vibration when we speak it makes our own voice sound different than what everyone else hears. That is why most people think they sound totally different in recordings. http://www.marquette...l&id=1260897469 There was a greta segment on this on science channel. Great work, awesome!

Thanks for the time and effort. I didn't learn much of it since BSN or some of your other videos had already taught me most of it, but it does help to put it into form.

The only point where i might comment is on gel use: a pug player is generally trying to fill his manifest, and gel-ing too much means more JEPs, thus less PSPs, thus less troll store occurences of URs. If you gel too easily in pugs, you'll run out of gel quickly. This is especially the case against Collectors which are a very tough challenge in common gold pugs (a little less in plat pugs). Probably half to two thirds of the pug Collector games i get in, end prematurely. Sometimes very early on.
I've been fighting with my gel stocks ever since Retaliation, i assume i'm not the only one.

Also a question about sidesteps: i thought only drell sidesteps gave DR, was i wrong?

Things I would add: am at 21 minutes.

- Whenever doing disable 4 make sure there's soft cover between at least 1-2 directions where the enemy is coming from. For example disables in London on the park bench once had a scion shooting at me so I went behind the bench and said bench 100% blocked the shots and I managed to disable it. Also as a teammate try and see what direction and how much the disabler is covered and cover the direction they're not safe from. Even if you die it might save the disable.

At 36 mins.

- I know it's a bit advanced but mentioning that when dying you can dodge twice to move away from the enemy or heavy melee as a Krogan. You did this with the Geth hops. For Turians you can wait till the toon starts to get their torso up and heavy melee making sure they get up a bit faster. Cerb adepts also can heavy melee twice to get the enemy off their back and get a window for escape. . Also as a batarian move your camera at the nearest enemy and heavy melee you might get sync killed or whatever but you'll take something with you at least or chip at them.

- Falling off platforms cause a bit of stagger for you which can be remedied by dodging or as a Turian or batarian doing a light melee. It's extremely useful when there are laggy games and ladders get disabled and bugged. Saved me and my escapes lots of times.

Good guide really. Learned that I should prolly side hop a bit more.

Solid stuff really.

If you're that strapped for gels that you don't have any and can't buy a JEP then it might be better to do some silvers or something until you can get some gels. :P

And nope, all dodge moves give DR as far as I know.

Needs more volus w/ adrenaline module 3.

Watching a volus toddle around with his little booties on his feet, toddling around at +25% movement speed is actually hilarious. Benny Hill would merely add to the hilarity.
