Haven't read the thread so it might have been mentioned before.

Anyway, the video looks rather dark to me which suggests that you were using Fraps and probably Vegas for video editing. Whatever the case, you need to convert the dynamic range from 16-235 to 0-255 (or Studio to Computer) to get a proper output.

Regardless of this, nice work.

Thanks for the tip. I honestly don't notice the darkness... but that's likely because I have photophobia. Stupid eyes. <_<

Wow, Hunter Mode must be a real pita then, I imagine. :/

Anyway, now that I watched the video in full, I can finally comment on the content rather than technicalities.
You really did a great job with this. Covered a lot of important topics and gave good advice that people on PUGs should follow but usually don't.
I think games like ME3 (MP at least) should in fact have help sections in-game where videos like these can be linked to be watched directly as this would greatly improve the PUG experience.

Just like to say thanks to Lord_Sirian for an excellent guide.

I'm an average player, mostly playing in Silver but dipping into Gold more often now.

I knew many of the tips and tricks, but the OP gave me a few new ideas and a fresh perspective.

I took the ideas out for a spin with my AV on Gold and finished 2nd - by best ever.  It was Gold - Ghost - Cerberus. Normally a likley fail for me, or 4th if I'm lucky.

  • Running diagonal when approaching or retreating. Sounds obvious, but I'd never thought that way before. Genius
  • I normally try to always get to downed team mates wherever they are on the map (often dieing in the process), this time I left them if they were too far away.
  • I Equiped a rocket when doing the activate objective, and used it to take out two Phantoms who were just about to sync kill me.
  • I stayed so far away from the LZ at extraction that I was all on my own (I felt guilty). I managed to get to extraction with 5 seconds to spare.
I still can't reload-cancel, so the Pirhana is my go-to shotgun - works very well on my AV.

Thanks again. B)

UK people: wot u fink of dat one guvna?

Kiwis: Aww nuu bruu, I need ta git sum fush n chups for me dunner bru.

Aussies: Good eye might, throw a shrimp on the barby, etc. etc.

I lol'd.  But you got the Aussie one wrong.  It would go:  Geedeye moight, throw a shreeemp on the barrbeee  Image IPB

I'm gonna watch your vid when I get home (no youtube at work, sadly).   I'll watch it while I munch my fush und chups bruu  Image IPB

I have the brightness on my monitor set quite low, so HM doesn't bother me a great deal. But if something is "too dark" for other people I often won't even notice. Plus lights shining in my peripheral vision give me migraines. :(

Thanks for the feedback. =] The video took a lot of time & effort, so I'm glad people think I did a good job.

:wizard: You're most welcome. It's amazing how much little things can help. =] Do try to work on reload cancelling, it's really helpful. It can seem a bit daunting at first but it's basically just another step like pressing the reload button when you run out of ammo. You will get used to it.

The video was great and had alot of good pointers, loved the Benny Hill bit.... But, you are no stardusk and that cost you some points. All in all really helpful, and learned a bit myself.

Of course with the Aussie one I was just kidding. We sound nothing like that.

The kiwi/pommy ones are 100% accurate though.

I might be forced to make a parody of your video Sirian.

Make it all ironic, only do it live commentary, with Feneckus and 2 bewildered public players.

I support if only against geth, with Feneckus not using a krogon or stagger resistant class

The question is, which will he run out of first? Missiles or medigel?

Thanks for the guide! I think I played a PUG with you this morning .....you left of trail of enemy ashes with your PPR :) Lots of great advice in your vid. I'll make a point to apply it to my next matches.

And that was with me spamming grenades at his feet. Imagine how he does when I can actually fire a gun... (hint, I consider going back to silver)

Can't speak for him but when it first came out it felt like a railroad spike through the forhead for me after a couple of rounds. A little while later there was a texmod thing that was around that solved it a bit. An oppacity slider would probably help with it without the need for texmod but who knows what or if they have anything planned for it.

As for the guide, absolutely liked it Lord_Sirian especially the part around the 29min mark. <3 Benny Hill lol.

Thanks Sirian for this comprehensive guide! A few things I already knew, but a lot was new for me. Playing with a competent friend and these tips made Gold easier than most Silver PUGs...

EDIT: well, your tip about equipping the missile launcher when disabling devices just saved my ass when I had to solo wave 10 today. Those two Banshees were standing right next to me when I finished the second device. But not for long

Bumping this thread for justice and because according to lots of people, there appears to be an influx of new players.

That wallpaper you've used at the start of the vid, with the N7 characthers. Post link?
Want it.

Nvm, found it.

Watched the video just for kicks and it's really good, awesome job. Few things I'm surprised you didn't mention though like firing rockets at the floor instead of enemy, reviving through soft cover, and most missions not recognizing you when your cloaked. Those are 3 things I find most noobs don't seem to know.

Awesome job though, just incase you missed that the first time lol.
