Questions regarding the PSN download of the first game. Has anybody clarified whether the standalone game will allow a save
transfer? And will this circumvent the comic at the beginning of 2? I'd
hate to have my canon overwritten by the "previously on Mass Effect"
motion comic.
I know the PS3 version of ME2 has some files that aren't accessible
without a transfer, continuation of quests from the first game, etc.
Will this stuff "activate" with a ME save file?
Sorry for dumb post, googling has not found me answers.

no saved character will be overwritten importing another character, there is no continuation of quests/missions from me1 into me2, some of your choices in a slight way in me1 transfer to me2 but thats about it, about the only thing that changes much is dialogue.

having never did a "default" game of me2 though im prob not the best person to answer as ive also ported a character into that game

No, I understand how save file transfer works in theory. What I'm saying is, specifically, that I'm using the PSN version of ME1 standalone (not the trilogy), and if I transfer into ME2 (original release disc), will that work as it should? What I mean by overwiting is that I'm worried the ME2 version will run the backstory comic and that might conflict with the ME1 save I'll be using. Also, I don't know if the original PS3 release of ME2 has all the files necessary to accommodate an ME1 save transfer. It's a question about the specific versions.

AIUI Genesis only kicked in on PC/Xbox games when an ME1 Shepard was not imported. I'd expect that anyway but there's apparently also a patch for the PS3 version of ME2 to make sure characters import from ME1 as per the other platforms. Toward the end of that thread there are posts that look like they're by PS3 players who have played through ME1 and imported into 2 as it's supposed to.

This has been answered dozens of times, by Bioware themselves and everywhere else on the Internet. You can transfer into ME2 just fine.

Hello. I was wondering if any one was having trouble transfering ME2 and 3 characters into ME1 on the PS3. I remember Bioware saying that it was possible, but when I started a new game in ME1, I did not get the option to import my ME2 characters. Is anyone having this problem?

I'm guessing like the Xbox version, you will need to complete ME1 before you can import your save file into ME2.

If you're still wondering I imported my digital ME1 copy shep to disc ME2 and yes it works. There are no issues 4 hours in. I've gotten LVL/credit/morality bonuses and seen helena on omega/early changed dialogue with jacob and miranda. No romance still results in liara for the opening of ME2 for PS3 version.

Time travelling in Mass Effect simply requires you to have Joker "back" the Normandy into a Mass Relay^_^
