I competed DAO, and ahave just started DAA. My character leveled up, and I got 1 specialization; however, I could not use that as they were locked. I have the Ultimate Edition, and patch 1.05. Is it b/c I have not completed something or read a tome to unlock the specialization? And if yes, does that option (the 1) come back when I do unlock it, or is it lost as I was unable to use it during level up? Thanks.

As I recall, specialization points do not vanish if not used upon level-up. This is mainly due to the fact that on your very first playthrough, all your specializations will likely still be locked when you get your first spec point @ level 7.
At the very least you can use a respec tome later on, which will give all attribute, talent and skill points back.

If you unlocked a spec in Origins then it should also be unlocked in Awakenings.
The ones you did not unlock in Origins will still be locked in Awakenings too. But you will have another chance to unlock them.
Unlocking them in Awakenings does not unlock them for your next playthrough in Origins, however.
Also, the new Awakenings specs begin the game locked.
And yes, spec points do not vanish. You can always save them and take specs later when you have unlocked the one you want.

I know with some other games I have, they had tools you used to make or update weapons and other things. Is thier anyway to do that in DAO.
