The official campaign has killed any sort of replayability for me. Its zones are terribly long and excrucially boring. The "origins" or story choices have almost zero effect on it. The companions are boring too (save probably one or two cackles from Morrigan). How on Earth did this mess get 91 score?

I'm sorry, you appear to be on the wrong forum.

This one is about Dragon Age Origins.

I think over time Origins turns out to be a really great game! What games are you comparing it to?

Really?? Too much content is a problem? Origin choices did not have an effect?? Maybe you should stick to FPS - because RPG seems to be a mystery to you

It is tedious compared to Spellforce 1,
i only completed 1 or 2 games, the rest i ran out of juice.
I really like the building of the avatar tho, allocation & skills,
and was very impressed with the way skills was implemented as part of the story,
like arcane warrior from a trapped spirit etc

But spellforce 1 was really a RTS with some RPG elements ... I liked it but I think of it as one of the better RTS

It's definitely not too much of content. The games like Diablo could have kilometers and kilometers of same rooms and corridors, but RPG cannot. Andraste temple? Deep paths+teigs+Carrion Moats? You mean I need to visit that borefest again? No, thanks.

Also please educate me about effects of origins? I found none so far.

Speaking of origins, hell, they even managed to spoil one of the Dwarven ones. The less is said about them the better.

Also the campaign is rather hard to be treated seriously after you realise that is was made with two templates: "each second X is a traitor" and "always do evil for a greater good". It lacks variety.

On a technical side, having less "you suddently cannot return after clicking this/ talking to this" surprises would made it more enjoyable in those narrow limits of possible.

We all have favorite sections and boring sections - yes sometimes you have to grind it out (the ye olde dungeon crawl). Is an RPG immune? Never seen one that didn't have it...

Each Origin character has its own side-quests, and will generate different dialogues from other characters at particular times and places. Unless you mean the over-all campaign: well there is ultimately only one goal.
But your choices do matter in this game - but I do not think you ever have complete freedom of choice - it's just difficult to achieve even you build your game around the concept (Skyrim) - you make compromises in other areas.

PS I will agree about one of the dwarven characters - the less said the better.

Enlighten me. Did you join two days ago because you started playing two days ago, or did you join two days ago for the express purpose of a single paragraph telling us how much you hate the game? (You've also misspelled "excruciatingly" in your original post. At least that's what I assume you meant to say.) I'm curious how the mind of a troll works.

Different strokes for different folks, dearie. No one's forcing you to play, or post.

If you (unlike everyone else here) hate it so much, why don't you stop whining about it and find a game you DO like?!

Well, that's a waste of time and money for you, then. Sucks.

Also, the defence of Redcliff, the defence of Elfinage, final battle and some others are so badly designed that cause... a battle lag. In a single-player game... you just watch your characters fighting without actually using items or skills, not doing or taking damage...

Sorry, Xionnes, but that's a problem of your system not meeting the system requirements + poorly set tactics.

I still love this game 3 years later. Just started up a new DN last night.  The only part of the MQ I don't like is the fade.  I always cringe when I go to the Circle Tower because I know the fade is coming up.  Which is one reason why I knock that section out early in the game.  I want to get the fade out of the way and pick up my healer early on as well.

Ugh, the Fade. There's a mod to skip it which I use religiously. :P http://dragonage.nex...ds.com/mods/816

Well I am a console player so I really don't have a choice I have to go into the fade.  Fortunately I know it well enough to get through it pretty quick but I still cringe whenever I go to the tower because I know the fade is coming up.  But if I were a PC player that is probably a mod I would take advantage of.

I found an exploit quite by accident where you click repeatedly on one of those Fade Essence things, and get several bonus points. I've since used it quite on purpose, which explains my level 13 Arcane Warrior having a base cunning that outstrips my level 24 Dwarf Noble Rogue. Anyway, even if I wanted to mess with the game like that mod does, there's no way I'm missing out on that much extra power. After all this time playing fair, why not break the game a little?

Edit: Still, the fact that I played it 8 times before discovering this option should rule out the official campaign being boring...

The story isn't really terrible but some of it does have style, it's all just rather cliche I like the game and play it a lot just wish the story were better. I actually like the story of DA2 better, it has a lot of twists and turns that I didn't see coming especially the second act

I wish it was at most two reply options in a dialog,
and both options would have a voice

The gist of idiocy is that you have to use DLC to have an adequate tanque in your party and have a high enough level to finish the game on any higher difficulty. And I just found Sheyle lines in the vanilla game, and yet it is a DLC?
