All 3 powers have a maximum potential DR of 30% which leaves the primary difference being the individual purge & passive effects between them. Of the 3, Defense matrix purge effect is the only one that is another defensive effect, that being restoration of your shields.

If you wanted a tanky caster, go with Barrier for the extra power synery bonus to all powers. With a light-ish weapons load you can still have usable cooldown times, with or without the rank 6 recharge evolutions.
Fortification would only be good if you plan to play as a melee Sentinel.

I would go Durability, Power Synergy, Durability. At least if you plan to use Incinerate or even Sabotage w/ Backfire relatively frequently.Cyrano wrote...
I've read that Infiltrators and Defense Matrix go very well together. How should the points be spent in rank 4, 5 and 6 ? I'm playing a CQC Infiltrator not a sniper.

Defense Matrix rank 5 evolution Power Synergy adds +25% damage to all tech powers. In my opinion, while this seems like a good fit for Infiltrators to increase their tech damage, the rank 4 Power Damage evolution of Cloak gives the Infiltrator +80% or +90% power damage to both weapons AND powers. This means that when cloaked, Infiltrators have more power damage than Engineers, which have only +70% from passive. Infiltrators can also gain +25% power damage from their passive.
As an Infiltrator, I think you are better off using either one of the following powers as a bonus power:
- Energy Drain
- Proximity Mine
- Marksman
That being said, if you want to use Defense Matrix, how do you plan on using it?
(a) To add a constant power damage boost only for your tech powers, and never purge it for the shield restore:
Defense - Power Synergy - Power Recharge
(
Defense - Shield Recharge - Durability
© To only use it for the shield restore:
Shield Bonus - Shield Recharge - Durability
(d) To use it for shield restore and tech power damage boost:
Shield Bonus - Power Synergy - Power Recharge

You're better off with energy drain than defense matrix on infiltrator. Cloak -> ED -> shotgun.
