I believe it is dramatically possible to appeal to a more grounded and mature audience while creating an end game with a "united front, happy ending". The cost of a "win" like that can be displayed in numerous ways to 1) make it palatable to the grimDark crowd 2) believable for the realist crowd 3) happy for the idealistic crowd.

I think the OP is kidding, though. Unless he in all seriousness wants the Arishok to bake everyone cake.
That wouldn't be too terrible, actually.

You do realize he's totally trollin yeah?
I only ask because I had like NO idea until he mentioned Qunari and baked goods. xp
Also yes it is fair to say the idea is a childrens fairytale ending. There is no compromise since any "compromise" would involve mage segregation and imprisonment again. Nope. Templars gotsta burn.

Also one way that the Mages and Chantry could come to a peace is someone showing the Chantry and the Mages that their fight is possibly over a misunderstanding.
Chantry dogma states: Magic is to serve Man. Never rule over him.
The Chantry understands this to mean that magic and it's users must be dominated and controlled. It could however mean that magic is a tool, that being able to use magic doesn't make you better than someone who can't... and of course vice versa.

Well the new Arishok is apparently according to the comics the one we once knew as Sten, as as we all know the Arishok formally known as Sten did have a bit of a sweet tooth so...........
Such events are totally plausible given Bioware's approach to "Dark and Mature".

I think they'll might put a third path (IF the game will be around the mage-templar war), one in which you're trying to compromize between mages and templars, but it wouldn't end up with mages completely free.

Hell to the no. I say we kill them. All.
The Elves die out like the Neanderthals they are.
The Qunari take over Thedas entirely, ushering in a golden age of progress and enlightment.

Depending on the solution of the compromise, it wouldn't be a Disney ending. Plus, I'd like to have a third path regarldess, expecially because I don't know if mages and templar's goal will be reasonable or moronic .
The Elves-Neanderthals analogy is stupid. Humans aren't more intelligents, or advanced than elves.
I'll gladly stop the Qunari's invasion. I'm waiting this battle since DAO.

I'm not even sure there'll be a second path, that divergence would mean either an end to the series or a jump into the far future where it can be mentioned but doesn't really have to have such an impact on the world.
