If you were Bioware what ending would you make canon for the new trilogy?

Well, following the Foundation series, refuse would be the best option to open up as many possibilites as possible.
10,000 years of Galactic dark age and once more, Man is ready to reach for the stars anew with a whole new galaxy to explore.  (new in the sense that nothing is known/remembered about the previous inhabitants.)

Man? In Refuse there isn't going to be any "man." Just a new Reaper.

well, its odd that he mentions "refuse" in Foundation. Because the option is never really explored. The protagonist is given 3 options that each resemble Control, Destroy and Synthesis.....not refuse. So.....

If anything low EMS Destroy would set the context of Foundation.

High EMS Destroy.

how about a Galactic Communist Revolution. I think it would be interesting.

Original ending doesn't deserve to be canon.

Destroy, because it preserves the vast majority of what people found interesting in the series.

And which species would that be? Rachni you only wiped out the ones you knew of, Geth could be replaced as it is they are merely AI created by other species, another may create such within those 100,000 years. This does not include the fact that over such a time span new races will rise and be discovered, others may die out naturally. There is no reason for or against having older races still present or any lack of new races simply because were not present 100,000 years in past from logical point of view. It also does not have to take place in the galaxy present in ME 1-3. There are many more galaxies out there and over 100,000 years would be plenty of time for one or more species from out galaxy to visit/settle in theirs. Maybe Buck Rogers meets Lost in Space and have baby called ME4.

Get rid of every species, culture, and conflict that drew people in to begin with. Brilliant. Why would this even be called Mass Effect?

After all that has happened, that wouldn't be a bad idea at all. Although if I had to choose between these three, it would definitely be the destroy. I just can't stomach the other two option.

Go with a high EMS destroy, while retconning the catalyst and ALL OF HIS BULLSH*T. It's what would have worked in the first place...

That was a joke. If I was BW I would find a way to make them all fit. Knowing what BW is capable of, I imagine the end choice will not matter in the least and that's probably for the best. Shepard will vanish into mythology and all will be as it was before because X happened.

oh . they tried that with deus ex ... did not go very well .. the sequel was just bad ...

they should just make an "arrival-dlc", that concludes the story and gives us all one galactic outcome, to build up upon.

shepards fate could still range from dead to (relativly) happy.

Control.
And something kicked catalystshep's ass.
How's that for a threat?

actually, this could work!
Thinks about it, Nintendo does it all the time with their Zelda series (let's be honest, for as much as they like to say there's continuity, every game is actually a completely different one from their predecessor, well except for majora's mask, phantom hour glass and spirit tracks)

Destroy, only ending where there are no reapers left. You can start with a totally clean slate with an all new enemy/threat.

IT. Or Marauder Shields, either works.

Synthesis, just to annoy the fanbase. Or maybe Control and have Shepard as the new antagonist.

Well it's either that, or no canon, and completely gloss over the war.

Anything else and I say "Screw it, I'm done"

Destroy. A fresh start with no more reapers.

This, because of that.

High EMS Destroy kind of 'resets' the state of the galaxy, whilst still keeping organics intact. I don't know about you, but I'd say that's the best possible presetting for a new story to take shape.

I reject the idea that a prequel isn't the best way to continue the series. How about a story about a race that is nearly indistinguishable from humans that learns of the Reaper threat and is the race that originally conceives the idea of the Crucible? Maybe this is the race that originally begins the uplift of humanity over a million years ago. How about an Assassins Creed type story that follows the shaping of the crucible over several cycles? I think there is still plenty of room for choice in these stories and doesn't canonize any of the endings to ME3.

so you're saying you wouldn't be for a game that takes your "Final Choice" into account? Why? Or are you one of those people that completely disregards the notion and imply it's an impossibility?

I wouldn't pick one.

Well, maybe refuse so we can hit the reset button.

Picking a "canon" ending would just put the final nail in the whole decisions matter thing (yes I realize that was killed a long time ago).
