Well if you judge a player by their banner; we'll kick you instead.

You are not getting the point.
Read the post.

Read the OP.

Took me until a week ago to get Death Guard. I chose to wear no banner because I didn't feel like one until I had it, though I did briefly don the Halloween Challenge one since it was pretty great. But no banner does no mean a bad player.

They either don't care for banners, or don't focus on any specific challenge. You should feel ashamed for judging people because they don't have a banner. This isn't an e-peen contest. If you want skilled matches to go quickly, play with friends. I personally enjoy randoms and frequently see lobbies half-and-half when it comes to banner-donning. No problem with it, and its always good to help out newer players, rather than going "lawl, you're bannerless, you suck."

I don`t know why people like fancy word such as "Judging" in just a video game.

ME3 MP is full of things like N7 rating, Banner, Challenge points and even Load Out, and a player thinking certain things based on that is bad?Posted Image
Whatever each players thinks, they are there for reasons. They can be used for something if one wants to.

Beside, if I am judging them, I will definitely show them my "Judegement" with little X Kick mark sign which I don`t.

you are a shallow person.

I'm not sure honestly, but I have noticed that I'm more likely to leave a lobby thinking,
"These guys are going to make me solo every round, aren't they," when everyone is bannerless
than when I'm in a lobby with a Dog of War, Machinist, and Cyber Warrior.

I understand what you're saying, OP.

While I don't necessarily determine skill according to banners, the gold PUGs (PS3)  I have played in as of late somewhat confirm what you are saying. I always check over everyone in the lobby with or without a banner, but I'm definitely more lenient on the people with using weird builds because often times you have to use weird weapons to complete these challenges. Honestly when I see the different alien banners I see it as someone who is versatile and can at least play quite a few classes decently.

And for those who say 'oh well they just grind', so what? Technically I did for my commando badge, but I played nothing but gold. Not everyone dumbs themselves down to bronze/silver for challenge points.

So yes, I do judge people to a certain degree, but I won't kick them/leave unless they're not using any equipment/completely awful loadouts.

Thanks for the opinion.

I feel very same way.

People should not be discrimated in-game for having banner or not.. but banner does say a few things no matter how little it is.
Honestly, I don`t feel same way when I initially join a team of 3 BoBs compared to a team of 3 bannerless players in Gold/Plat PuG match.

Banners do not represent skills, but I am just writing my honest feeling.

I feel like I should turn off my banner just to see what kind of reactions I can get from people.

If only my N7 rating was still around 120.

Most of people won`t care too much about banners.
PuG players I play with are very tolerable as long as they get 4 players.

I just try to predict how the game will run before we start because Gold/Plat is not really easy for me to go in blindy..

I joined an U/U/P game with an N7 10K+ player with the mass effect banner, and two 7K+ players with N7 and Lone Wolf banners. I have an N7 rank of 715 and sport the Cyber Warrior banner (and let's face it people, EVERYBODY who has put any significant time into this game has gotten Geth Mastery at least once), and I was using a Turian sentinel with CSMG I.

I didn't get kicked. Sure, I scored the lowest out of the entire team, but then I wasn't trying to outscore them. I'm not an expert platinum player, and I knew my weapons and powers alone wouldn't do sh*t, so I instead contributed by detonating their combos, and picking them up whenever they went down so they could get right back to fighting. We managed to get full extraction; I don't think I even went down during the game!

I don't have a banner. yet I have over 1000. I havn't played in the last month since I work two jobs and go to grad school.  I don't have time to play video games as much as you apparently.

I have a lot a banners but don't wear them because I don't like the idea of them. So if you see me in your lobby please don't kick me because I'm bannerless.

Banners, just like the leaderboards and score, mean nothing except that you have some free time. People may choose not to have them, they may not know how to equip them, or they may not have had time to get any. Hell, maybe they're even just getting them naturally, without grinding. Banners are not a display of skill. I've found banner-less people in Gold/Platinum who can hold their own.

Of course it would seem the majority of banner-less players suck at gold and platinum. But truth be told, most of the playerbase that tries to play those difficulties suck whether they have one or not, for whatever reason.

I think what you wrote might be the most important thing in this entire thread.

Personally, I only have a few banners at the moment, I've chosen to get them when I get them through playing normally, (which takes forever for some of those --stupid husks--) the 1st one I earned was the Survivor because I specifically did those challenges and only those, everything else will probably unlock near the same time for me because I'm pretty close on a bunch of them, so meh, I don't think much if someone isn't sporting one in gold lobbies.

Edit: should probably clarify that I don't PUG much anymore since joining a group and setting up matches with them, but still see some without banners in Gold, but they know what they are doing anyway, so yeah I don't think much of it

Check their loadout/gear/consumables. A much better measure. Until yeterday, I had no banners other than the n7 and Halloween banners, because I generally don't do challenges, I just play the game for fun. Now I have the collector general banner, not because I did anything to get it, but because I have naturally played enough games. I play u/u/g, and almost nothing else and while I'm not a great player, I am certainly a gold player and can contribute fine on platinum.

ie. No, it doesn't mean squat.

I am not sure if this issue is present on PS3 as well, but it`s definitely useful information to know for everybody.

I always check for gear/consumables, it tells the whole story really, unlike banners. So you're basically saying that players should be requred to wear banners if they're gonna attempt gold/plat because it proves they've done, what, a weekend/holiday challenge?

To me, most of the banners say that you don't care if people can read what character you're playing at a glance. Most of them hide the font since its color doesn't change. Kills my eyeballs until I scroll right to look at loadouts instead.

I had a terrible afternoon of PUGs with loads of people who were simply not any where near a standard to be in gold.

It aggravates the ****** out of me carrying a team who would rather die in an objective wave than spend a missile.

When I see a real banner or high challenge score I don't fear that happening as much.

I don't have a banner.

Done 24/25 for Mass Effect challenge, but since I never promote, I'll never get N7 or BotB.
Just don't like the look, and prefer the uncluttered look of no banner.

F**k your Best of the Best banner. If someone thinks it means something, that person should say so so I can kick them from MY lobby.

Really, get over it. The banners are for fun. The dumb mistake was someone putting the words best of the best on one of the banners. When it should have read, "I don't spend enough time doing other things."

Yes, by the way, I have a banner. So I can spy on you and out you...:D

Indeed. I took a break for a bit over the shutdown of City of Heroes. Coming back to ME3MP I started up, slotted gear and consumables and then joined a game wondering who was the lonely guy with no banner....

... then the realisation: it was me:happy:

Banners are like N7 rank.
You can have all banners, and 10 k rank and still suck.

Just saying.
