the only banner I have is Corsair and I don't usually have it on. just today I completely pooped all over the scores of 3 guys with fancy Titles and WAY more challenge points than me. none of them made it over 100k score because I murdered everything before they could get to it with my N7 destroyer + Typhoon V. my score was 180k+.

if they would have kicked me I bet they would've have failed, haha. you can keep your banners i'll continue to be a badass at this game without em until I get those pesky husk and cannibal points.

You guys do realize this is a co-op game, right? Why are you ripping each other apart?

Banner/No Banner: who cares? We're all on the same team. Judging people on whether or not they have a pretty little picture on their lobby slab in a co-op game in freakin ridiculous.

This is why we can't have nice things :(

Too many bad players with banners for it to mean anything to me.

I didn't think this forum could get any more elitist. You've taken it up ten notches, chief.

You are a sad, strange little man, Tallgeese_VII. You have my pity.

I don't pay attention to it. I might look at challenge points if their N7 is low and their build looks questionable though.

Yep! I'm glad you guys think like I do. It's refreshing. I actually like you people.

Banners are like titles in Guild Wars. All they do is say that someone sacrificed a hell of a lot of their time (and possibly their social life) to gain one. It doesn't say that they're good. To be honest, I was always wary of people who proudly wore titles in GW, because people who play that much are sometimes not the nicest people to play with. (E-peen and all.)

I wore my titles in WoW all the time.

The one that came to mind as I read your post and made me chuckle in particular was one I had on my druid, "Bærkat the Patient"

Lol.

If you care so much about an issue as minuscule as this, that you had to make a thread about this... then you are part of the problem.

How do you define elitist?

I don`t join a single group and play with just about any PuG I meet, and that`s how we be elitst?

The only difference between a player with and without a banner is that one of them didn't grind to specifically get a glorified picture.
You can only presume that people with banners/high N7 rank have invested more time in the game, but not that they're more skillful.

For people with disappearing banners: if you play SP, your MP banner disappears and has to be reset. At least on PC.

play when you want, with who you want. I can't seem to determine whether this thread is a player looking for approval, or controversy.

OP, no.

People who have multiple banners obviously spend at least 12 hours a day playing this game. Most people don't have that kind of time, myself included. I've met plenty of people with low challenge points who play extremely well. Who cares.

Looks like I just posted in an 'elite' troll thread.

Edited to add:  Yes, I do have a few banners.  Half of them are from weekend challenges.  The rest I grinded for, which isn't much fun.  I consider myself to be an OK gold player as long as the other people I'm playing with play as a team.  Someone with a lot of challenge points is usually looking to top the scoreboard, and that gets very boring because of how I like to play the game.

What I do is look at is everyone's loadout.  If they've got crappy loadouts, I leave the lobby.

To counter all the things said about grinding for challenges, If you where taking it to a different direction like actualy learing how to use the class throughout 200 waves of gold you could be alot more satisfied + more skilled... Not just "waving the banner" without actualy knowing what it stands for yourself and other players

The guy with the most challenge points in PS3 has no banner and he is very good, I don't understand that thinking.

Well, he just never got around equipping his banners. Hurray for him.

I like how the li.challengebanner looks at N7HQ when you have no banner on. Plus, most looks horrible to okay-ish, only a few are nice looking..

Doesnt matter to me as long as they carry their own weight, even if they score low.

I think it kind of odd at this point but it wouldn't be something that raises a red flag. Equipment load out and other factors would instead.

I have come across a "bug" where I have to select my banner before entering a lobby because the game removed it. This started to happen after I downloaded the Omega DLC.

Although I expected,

many of you are just saying "Oh Banner don`t matter how you perform in the game"
Yes, everybody knows that.

I am talking about players who don`t choose not to wear banner, but simply having no banner due to the lack of experience/time spent.
Which is completely fine, except that they are trying to play Gold/Plat.
Actually, this is fine too because I don`t care that much how one performs in the game.

but many bannerless players end up doing bad in Gold/Plat game.
I am not going to dicriminate them for it, but it will tell me I should gear up before the game starts even if they have fairly good equipments..
(because you had 2 months to get banner)

NO. Banner is not important at all.

Playing Gold and Platinum without experience is not an issue, either.

There is nothing called "doing bad" here, this is just a game.

I dont kick players, if I dont want to play with someone, I will leave the lobby myself.

If I don't see banners or high level URs... I'll assume they haven't played in awhile, or alot... which kinda makes me assume the worst. If they don't put on equipment... yeah... they're getting kicked.

If you have no banner, I refuse to let you in my lobbies. You suck and should feel bad if you have no banner, which I have.

I personally find the common event banners (Halloween, N7 day, Corsair) to be even worse than someone that doesn't have any banner. I have my reasons.

I judge by many criteria. Banner, N7 rank, weapons, and challenge points are all excellent indicators. Bonus points to people that actually use consumables.

Obviously I judge. So does everyone else. You can't seriously tell me that if you're hosting a game, and someone that is N7 8000 and Best of the Best banner comes into your game, that you aren't eager to play with them.

It's cute when I join a PUG, and all three of the other fellas ready up after approximately three seconds. More than enough time to be checking me out as if I were a piece of meat. You dirty animals make me horny.
